Course Description: The content of Algebra I focuses on families of functions, with special emphasis on linear and quadratic functions. These functions will be represented in multiple ways as verbal descriptions, equations, tables, and graphs. The students will also learn to model real-world situations using functions in order to solve problems arising from those situations. Algebra I also includes lessons on probability and data analysis. These topics will be learned while reinforcing communication skills, problem solving strategies, technology use, cooperative skills, and application of math to the real world and other subjects. Absent students: If you are absent or know you are going to be absent from class, it is your responsibility to see one of your Algebra teachers during homeroom (not class) for missed work. If you are absent, view new lessons on Blackboard and complete the notes. If absent work is not turned in within a timely manner, the work will remain a 0 in the grade book. It is YOUR responsibility to make up any missed work! Additional help: If you pay attention during class, take all notes, complete assignments, and utilize Blackboard to re-watch lessons, and you are still struggling with a concept or an assignment, you may see one of your Algebra teachers during homeroom. When you come for help, you must be prepared. Being prepared means the following: 1.) Bring your notebook/binder 2.) Bring assignment or review sheet (if any) 3.) Have a specific question or questions Coming for help IS NOT an additional math class. Students who choose to not pay attention in class, not take notes, not watch the Blackboard videos, or come unprepared will be turned away from receiving additional help. We want everyone to succeed in our class, but you must first put forth effort in order for us to help you. Contact Information: Ms. Angela Galioto B109 412-318-1000 ext. 4019 galiotoa@nhsd.net
