Bowties R Cool

Dear fellow crocheter: This pattern was made to fit my own hands which, for some people I'm sure are an odd size, so I'm including instructions that can help you either design it to fit your own hands like . . . well, a glove, or do a one-size fits all version. If you have any questions, please feel free to message me on Ravelry. Also, this is an original pattern to be used for private purposes only. Not for resale. Thank you. For the fitted glove: I only altered the sc sections to fit my hand, and left the bowtie stitch on the sides. I worked this project from the wrist up. If you have small wrists, and cannot fit the glove over the larger part of your hand, add stitches to the chain, and make a note to add sc stitches to my totals. I didn't incorporate any decreases. I only used increases which is made up of single crocheting (sc) twice in the same stitch. If you want to tailor this to your hand, you will want to be aware of where your hand begins to widen, and begin by increasing on the side of the glove that matches up with where your hand begins to widen. Generally, once you read this point, you can stop increasing, and just work straight up from that point. I did this on the palm side of the glove for the most part, and a little on the back side. For the One Size fits all: If you want to avoid the increases, and make a simple one size fits all glove, begin by making the foundation chain fit snugly around the widest part of your hand. Then work the stitches as a straight tube, spacing the two rows of bowties evenly between two sections of sc so that they line on either side of your arm/hand. You can use the gap between the bowties as a thumbhole. For an Alternative: Don't complete the bowties by sc them in the middle, and you can have a ripped stocking effect down both sides of the glove. Happy Hooking! nouveaucrochet

Abbreviations:
Ch = Chain Sk = Skip Sc = Single Crochet St = Stitch Ss = Slip Stitch Tog = Together Rnd = Round

Notes: This pattern is made in the round with no seams. Paying attention to stitch count can be very helpful. I made this pattern for one right hand glove, so . . . To make the left-handed glove, you could spend the time to reverse all of the numbers, stitch count, etc. . . or You can just make two right handed gloves, and turn one inside-out

* You have just completed your first bowties. For thicker bowties, wait more rounds before securing them in the middle, or add sc to the middle. For those following the fitted pattern, these stay the same. You will be adding your increases to the sc portions.

*now, we are going to start working on the thumb-hole. At this point, we will no longer be working in a continuous spiral, but back and forth as if the two were no longer connected by the extra bowtie.

*at this point, you have already closed the thumb-hole, and are working up the part that goes over the knuckles. I just kept alternating the sc portions and bowtie portions as they are at this point until it was long enough. Then sl st, tie off, and weave in loose ends with a needle. Thank you for using my pattern!
