THOUGHTS FROM BRAD

Next week we will study the theme: Q & A about Heaven. I cant wait to teach about this glorious place where Gods children will take up residence and praise His holy name forever. I hope to see you next Sunday. I know you have been hearing about our special nights during August but you may be interested to know who will be speaking each night. I was going to keep it a mystery but I decided you needed to know. Tonight, my father, Don Seevers will be our main speaker. On August 19th, my cousin, Steve Seevers will speak and on August 26th, J.D. Hite from Lifeline Christian Mission will share from the Word. We have an excellent cast of speakers so please be sure to join us. Please be sure to get signed up in the coat room if you can help provide refreshments. There are so many great things that are happening right now or soon at FACC. Beginning with our Feed the Shoe event on August 11th to our LIFE groups that begin in September. We also have the musical group 64 to Grayson that will be here to lead worship and provide a concert for both worship hours on Sept. 9th. Be looking for more exciting opportunities to be announced on our downstairs bulletin board by the nursery. In His Service, Brad

BITS FROM BRO. DAVE

KEENAGERS TO BIBLEWALK: A sign-up sheet is now posted for our trip on Wednesday, August 22. On that day, we will journey to Mansfield for a visit to BibleWalk at the Diamond Hill Cathedral. This is an inspirational presentation of the Bible in a life size wax museum. Our departure time 8:00 am. The cost for travel and admission will be $10 per person. Arrangements for lunch are pending. (Theres a good chance that it will be at an Amish style restaurant.) Get your money to me as soon as you can. NEW HORIZONS RETREAT: This great gathering, at the North Terrace Church of Christ, in Zanesville, is coming Tuesday, September 11. However, if you plan to attend, you should get your registration to me before August 14, in order to save $5.00. We have attended this senior gathering for the past several years and have always found it excellent. Registration, for this event is just $20. The registration fee includes a continental breakfast and lunch. Our departure time is 7:30 am and our return, approximately, mid-afternoon. A sign-up sheet is now posted. Complete a registration form and give it to me, along with your registration fee. Do this early, as registrations are limited. WEDNESDAYS: September. Study groups will return in

SCOTTS THOUGHTS God is infinitely greater than our finite minds can comprehend, yet He knows our situations and chooses to illuminate certain facets of His character in the very moment we need to recognize Him in that specific way. What a great God we serve who loves us enough to meet us where we are and enables us to receive His holiness that we might be where He is for all eternity Worship Him with all that you are. He is worthy! In Him, Scott

SUNDAY EVENINGS IN THE SANCTUARY: These sessions are being replaced, in August, with Three Nights of Revival and our annual Sunday School Picnic. I urge your participation in all four events. Sunday Evenings in the Sanctuary will return in September. NOTE OF INTEREST: Although it is not, exclusively, a seniors project, I know that many of you are curious about the progress of our van fund. As of June 4, the total was $22,410. FINAL THOUGHT: If Noah had been truly wise, he would have swatted those two flies.

MAYWOOD MISSION FOOD PANTRY

Maywood Mission provides a food pantry for community members in need. Donations for the food pantry can be left at the entrance by the nursery door on Sunday, August 26th

This Saturday, August 11th, at OSU stadium Feed the Shoe! If you are participating in this event and have not paid, please see Brad or Scott. If you are riding with us, please be at the building at 2:00 p.m. For our Cup of Cold Water Ministries we are always in need of bottled water. If you find it on sale it can be placed in the Benevolence room. Your help is always appreciated! If you are interested in the hike to benefit the National Center for Children and Families, the venue has changed. The National Park Service has decided not to allow the event to take place on the Appalachian Trail. We will be selecting a local trail to hike, possibly in the Old Mans Cave area, and raise funds both for the NCCF and a local organization that could use a blessing. If interested contact Scott.

Items needed for the pantry:

Canned soups Corn bread mix Navy beans Hamburger helper Cake mix Deodorant Toilet Paper Beef Stew Pinto beans Mustard Tuna helper Brownie mix Soap powder Paper Towels

WELCOME TO FIFTH AVENUE! At FACC, we focus on loving God, loving people, and turning the world upside down. We are happy you chose to worship with us today. We hope you return next week and bring your friends with you. If you would please take a few minutes to fill out a Silent Roll Call Card, located on the back of the pew, you can then place it in the offering plate as it is passed. Thank you. For more information about our great church, contact our minister, Brad Seevers at Brad@newchurches.org or call him at 740.550.9882. Have a great week and may God bless your life.

Core Values...
Values central to the life, mission and vision of Fifth Avenue Church of Christ are:

Sermon Notes ________________________

________________________________________ ________________________________________ ________________________________________ ________________________________________ ________________________________________ ________________________________________ ________________________________________ ________________________________________ _______________________________________ ________________________________________ ________

Christ-Centered Worship
We make it a priority every Sunday to celebrate Jesus through our music. (Romans 11:36-12:1-2). We focus on Jesus through grace-based preaching and teaching & understand the Bible is our authority (2 Timothy 3:16).

Church Health and Biblical Balance

Church health becomes reality when God's people seek harmony & live consistently. We expect every member to protect the unity of Christ's Church. (Romans 12:16; 1 Peter 3:8)

Global Evangelism
We are constant to our founding call to worldwide evangelism, proclaiming to all that Jesus Christ is the Savior, Healer, and Soon-Coming King (Acts 20:27).

Fellowship and Ministry

After people begin their journey with Jesus, we will equip them to find a ministry based upon their strengths. We want everyone to serve in some capacity. (1 Corinthians 12:12-27) We also want His church to be the living evidence of His love and power to the world.

How Can I Respond Today?

At FACC we look to the Bible for guidance on ________________________________________ all issues. We believe that Gods Word is __ clear concerning what a person must do to become a Christian. Trust that Jesus can bring you to salvation. Turn (repent) from the sin in your life. Confess your desire to make Jesus the Lord of your life. Be baptized (immersed) in water for the forgiveness of sins and to receive the Holy Spirit into your life. To make this life decision for Christ, we ask that you come forward during our commitment song at the conclusion of the Sunday message. Baptized believers are welcome to become members at FACC by coming forward on Sunday morning or by seeing our Senior Minister to discuss this further. We ask that you complete a series of Curious classes to help you better understand what you are committing to as a member.

Discipleship
We do not want you to "get religion" here at Fifth Avenue Church of Christ in Lancaster. We are all about teaching you that Jesus seeks a daily relationship with Him through a life of obedience. In other words, we want to see the things you are taught actually change your lifestyle & your daily decisions.

Social Conscience
We place high value on the sanctity of human life, of Biblical marriage and morality, and we welcome ethnic diversity (Isaiah 56:7; Philippians 2:15-16).
