Enrolling For Exams and Bundled Courses

LOMA offers an examination for each professional designation program course to assess a participants successful mastery of the course content. Exams are administered in LOMA member organizations and in independent testing locations. This section provides information about exam formats, enrollment procedures for both exams and bundled courses, and exam fees. LOMA exams vary in length from 23 hours. Consult your Test Preparation Guide (TPG) or see page 72 for specific information about the length of your exam. As new or revised LOMA courses are released, the number of examination questions for some course examinations may change. Exams for courses revised in 2010 or later, which formerly consisted of 75 questions with a 3-hour time limit, will now consist of 60 questions and have a 2-hour time limit. If you enroll for an examination, you are responsible for studying the correct assigned materials. The assigned study materials for each course are listed in the Course Descriptions section, beginning on page 18. If you enroll for a bundled course delivered through a LOMA Course Portal, the assigned study materials are included in your enrollment

Prometric Exams
You may also take computerized exams at Prometric Testing Centers throughout the United States and Canada. Prometric offers students the flexibility of taking exams after regular business hours and on Saturdays. If you are planning to take your exam at a Prometric Center, read the following section carefully.

Students with Special Needs

LOMA makes every effort to accommodate the needs of students with special needs by granting permission for special arrangements on a case-by-case basis. Contact LOMAs Office of the Registrar directly for more information.

I*STAR Exams
I*STAR (Individually Scheduled Test and Results) is LOMAs Internet-based system for providing computerized exams. I*STAR testing is available to students at companies that have installed this testing system. Advantages of I*STAR include the convenience and flexibility of year-round testing, as well as immediate online grade reporting.

Enrolling for Prometric Exams

Follow these steps when enrolling for and scheduling an exam appointment at Prometric. 1. Register and enroll via LOMANET, www.lomanet.org, at least 48 hours before scheduling your exam appointment at Prometric. If you cannot access LOMANET, contact the Office of the Registrar at 1-800-ASK-LOMA (Option 1), or 770-984-3761, or via e-mail, education@loma.org. 2. Select the testing period in which you would like to take your exam (JanuaryMarch, AprilJune, July September, or OctoberDecember). If more than one testing period is open for enrollment, you should select the testing period that allows you adequate time to study and prepare for your exam.

Enrolling for I*STAR Exams

Before taking an I*STAR exam, you must be enrolled for the exam or the bundled course through LOMANET. When you enroll for either a bundled course that includes an I*STAR exam or an I*STAR exam for a non-bundled course, you must select the testing period during which you will sit for your exam. Testing periods are: JanuaryMarch, AprilJune, JulySeptember, and OctoberDecember.

3. Submit payment for the Prometric examination fee (see page 67) to establish eligibility for one period of testing. You must sit for your exam during the testing period for which you are enrolled or purchase a fee transfer to transfer your enrollment to the next testing period. LOMA will not refund enrollment fees if you do not sit for your examination. 4. Choose to receive an enrollment confirmation via e-mail, or print the Enrollment Confirmation screen that appears after submitting your enrollment. 5. After 48 hours, log on to www.2test.com or call 1-800-998-5662 to schedule an exam appointment at a Prometric Testing Center. Prometric appointments are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis, and seating is subject to availability. Appointments for the end of each quarter fill up quickly, so schedule as early as possible. 6. Arrive at the Prometric Testing Center 30 minutes before the scheduled appointment. In addition to your enrollment confirmation, bring 2 forms of ID bearing your name and signature, one of which MUST include a recent photo. Examples of valid forms of photo ID include: a passport, a drivers license with photo and signature, a state ID card, and a military ID. In states where a photo is not included on the drivers license, you may present an ID with a physical description. Acceptable forms of secondary ID include a credit card, an ATM card, or a citizenship card. Your name on the ID must exactly match the Enrollment Confirmation.

Prometric appointments may be rescheduled without penalty if you reschedule your appointment 30 or more business days in advance of your scheduled test date within the testing quarter you have selected. If you reschedule your appointment 2 to 29 days before the scheduled test date there will be a $35 rescheduling fee payable to Prometric at the time you reschedule. The fee is payable by credit card only (Visa, MasterCard, or American Express) and you will be required to select your future appointment date at the time you reschedule. A rescheduling fee will be assessed each time you make any changes to your appointment within the 229 day period before your currently scheduled test date. In the event that you reschedule your exam less than 2 days prior to the test or fail to appear, your exam fee will be forfeited. See chart on page 64. Please note that Monday through Saturday are considered business days. Failure to reschedule more than 2 business days prior to your scheduled test date will result in a forfeiture of the $95 (U.S.) Prometric fee, and you will be required to pay this fee again to take your exam. To reschedule your appointment go to www.prometric.com/loma or call 1-800-998-5662. Prometrics Automated Voice Response System is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If your rescheduled appointment is near the end of one of LOMAs testing periods, you must also make sure your LOMANET enrollment is still valid for the rescheduled date. For example, if you enroll for one testing period on LOMANET, and want to reschedule your Prometric testing appointment to the next period, you must first log into LOMANET, purchase a fee transfer, and re-enroll for the exam in the next testing period. Note: Rescheduling your appointment with Prometric does NOT change your enrollment in LOMANET. Your enrollment will remain valid until the end of your current testing period. If you do not sit for your exam before the end of the testing period for which you enrolled, your enrollment expires and all exam fees are forfeited unless you purchase a fee transfer and enroll for the next exam period.

Grades for Prometric Exams

Prometric will provide you with an unofficial grade report. Your official grade will be e-mailed to you within a day or two if you have selected the e-mail delivery option in LOMANET. You may also log onto LOMANET and view your official score under Course History. In Course History, you can also generate a chapter-by-chapter Performance Report indicating how well you did on each chapter of the assigned reading materials for the course.

Rescheduling, Fee Transfers, and Cancellation Policies for Prometric Exams

Enrollments in LOMANET for exams delivered through Prometric may not be canceled for any reason. If you do not sit for your exam before the end of the testing period for which you enrolled, your enrollment expires and all exam fees are forfeited unless you purchase a fee transfer.

Paper Exams
Paper exams are typically offered in May and/or November. The Paper Exam Schedule on page 69 indicates the exam dates and times. Simply click on the LOMA course number of the exam taken, and then click on Performance Report.

Paper Exam Schedule. (See page 69.) Plan to arrive at the exam site 30 minutes before your exam begins. You may be required to furnish photo ID when taking an exam. If you arrive after the scheduled starting time for your paper exam, the exam may not be accepted by LOMA for grading. Official Exam/Proctor Instructions, mailed along with examinations to all paper exam proctors, must be followed. Students may not consult, discuss, review, or in any way use anyone elses answers or accept unauthorized assistance during the examination. Please note that LOMA uses specially designed software to detect possible cheating on LOMA exams. During the exam, students may not have in their possession any outside materials including, but not limited to, notes; textbooks; tables; charts; graphs; cell phones; pagers; Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs), e.g. Palm Pilots or BlackBerrys; or digital media players, e.g. iPods. Only calculators bearing the official LOMA logo are permitted in the exam room. The official LOMA calculator is sold through PBD [PBD Order # CALC-01]. Additional procedures, regulations, and information are posted in both the Student Services and Ed Rep Resources sections of LOMAs Web site at www.loma.org. Paper exam booklets must be returned to the proctors after the exam. The booklets will not be returned to students.

Exam Grades
The passing grade for all exams is 70 percent. For all courses except LOMA 281, LOMA 291, and ACS 101, LOMA provides students with numerical scores for grades of 70 and above. Scores below 70 are listed only as F+ (within 10 points of passing) or F. If you do not take an exam by the end of the exam period for which you are enrolled, your score will be DN (did-not-sit). You can receive your grade via e-mail if you select that delivery option in your student record in LOMANET. You may also view your grades under Course History in your LOMANET record. LOMA 281, LOMA 291, and ACS 101 courses include a series of short exams, which are integrated within the course materials and do not require a separate exam enrollment. Successful completion of these courses requires a 70 percent score on all course tests; however, course credit in LOMANET is recorded as a P (pass). Students who enroll in LOMA 281, LOMA 291, or ACS 101 are given access to the course materials for six months. If you do not successfully complete all course exams during that period, your score will be a DN (did-not-sit). You may review your grades for these courses under Course History in your LOMANET record.

Violations of Exam Administration Procedures

To protect the LOMA designations while ensuring the credibility and rights of organizations and individuals participating in LOMA Programs, a due process procedure is used when violations of standards governing exam administration are suspected. The due process procedure involves: 1. Determining the existence of a possible violation 2. Investigating the suspected violation 3. Communicating the findings and sanctions imposed, if any, to the affected parties The complete due process policy can be found on LOMAs Web site at www.loma.org.

Regrade Policy
You may request a regrade of your paper exam by submitting a request in writing within three months of the exam date. A fee of $50 (U.S.) is required to manually regrade your exam. Fees will be refunded if LOMA discovers any errors were made during the initial grading process.

Exam Question Challenges

If you believe a question on a paper or I*STAR exam was misleading, unfair, or contained errors, you may submit an exam question challenge. Deadlines for submitting challenges for paper examinations are found on the inside front cover. Computerized exam challenges must be submitted within 10 business days of the exam. Fax your challenge to 770-984-3742 or e-mail education@loma.org.

Course/Exam Enrollment Fees

Exam and course fees are based on a companys LOMA membership status, the type of exam (paper or I*STAR), and the location where the exam will be administered. Participation in LOMA Education Programs or activities does not constitute LOMA membership, nor does it qualify an organization for member company rates. Fee exceptions for independent students are available online at www.loma.org. Member and non-member companies will be invoiced for exam and course fees. Independent students must pay fees at the time of enrollment. All fees are shown in U.S. dollars and must be paid in U.S. dollars by VISA, MasterCard, American Express, check, money order, or bank transfer. Fees are nontransferable between students and courses.

Most exam fees do not include the cost of textbooks, study aids, or CE credit. Exceptions are

After LOMAs official enrollment deadline, paper enrollments may not be canceled. Fees are subject to change without notice.

Certain exams administered in Canada, including those for independent students, are subject to a $20 (U.S.) per exam surcharge. This fee is in addition to the base exam fee and other applicable fees. The Canadian surcharge applies only to Fellowship-level exams and the ACS exam. All exams administered in Canada are subject to the Canadian Goods and Services Tax (GST). The GST applies to the course/exam fee, the Canadian student surcharge, and any applicable Prometric Fees. LOMA does not collect the GST; Canadian companies and independent students must self-assess any liability they incur. Enrollments received past paper enrollment deadlines require additional administrative processing; therefore, a late fee per student, per exam is charged. Late enrollment and missed deadline fees apply to paper exams only. Transfer credit fees are fees for transferring pre-approved course credit from other industry educational programs to applicable LOMA designation program courses. The fee is a per-course fee charged at the time of application. For a transfer credit application, visit www.loma.org.

Determining the Study Materials You Need

All exams, I*STAR/Prometric and paper, are based on current, assigned study material. As a student, you are responsible for studying the correct materials assigned for the exam cycle during which you will take your exam. LOMA currently delivers study materials via published books, downloadable PDF files, in multimedia format using Course Portals, or online. New and revised course materials for many of the LOMA designation program courses will be published as downloadable protected PDF files (PPDFs) via Course Portals. The PPDFs typically are introduced in May or November. When a new edition of assigned study materials for a course is noted in this Catalog, you can expect the first computerized and paper exams to be available as follows
For Texts Introduced I*STAR/ Prometric Paper Exams

To determine the study materials you will need for each course for which you are enrolled, consult the information provided in the Course Descriptions section of this Catalog, beginning on page 18. Note the title, edition, and/or copyright date of all assigned study materials. Courses that include study materials with enrollment are listed on page 8 of this Catalog. Please confirm your companys policies regarding obtaining LOMA study materials before ordering. Past exams are not recommended as study aids and are not available from LOMA or PBD.

Online Study Materials

Study materials for some LOMA designation courses are available in an online format. LOMA 281, LOMA 291, and ACS 101 include access to all online course materials and exams within the course content (no I*STAR, Prometric, or paper exam required). You will be given access to the online study materials for six months. These courses can be purchased through LOMANET. For courses that have study materials in PDF, enrollment through LOMANET is required to gain access to the materials. For an additional fee, LOMA offers the text in a traditional printed format.
