In a down-turned economy, many dont have the money to purchase brand new items and on the other side of the coin, cash donations are down as well. A lot of the people that donate might not have the money, but they feel comfortable giving something that may be relatively new and will have a positive impact on the services that the SPCA provides, Fratis said. Helen Glassman, 57, said she loves thrift store shopping. The Roseville resident has visited the SPCA shop on a few occasions and said she enjoys the hunt. I come in here and sometimes Im not looking for anything in particular, Glassman said. You never know what great bargain you may find. The Roseville SPCA thrift

All of that directly benefits the Placer County SPCA and our programs and services, she said. Not all donated items make it to the sales floor. Things that dont fit well with the stores overall theme are redonated to Goodwill. We only put up new or gently used items for sale, Fratis said. If an item doesnt meet our needs, we give it to Goodwill. Glassman couldnt be more pleased with the stores offerings. Everything they have is in really good condition, Glassman said. I get great things at a great price. What more can you ask for?

Owner Joyce Henry said it is the wide variety of products and custom service that keeps customers coming back again and again. I think we just have a really good, loyal following, Henry said. People just know they are going to get a good product

In addition to custom cuts of meat, the butcher shop also offers more than 70 different marinated products, all marinated in-house with the shops own secret recipes. The Roseville Meat Company is also one of the few butcher shops in the region that offers the more-than-famous turducken a deboned chicken stuffed inside a duck stuffed inside a turkey around Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Henry said the business has struggled a bit with the bad economy, but this year, things are looking up. Weve suffered with the economy like everybody has, she said. But this year, were seeing it to be better. The nice weather really helps us.
