Operation Warm

Corps members at Bridgewater State came together to create

cards and wrap up coats for this winter’s Operation Warm.
The cards contained friendly winter messages and turned out
beautifully! Jenn Thibodeau, the Bridgewater State Site
Manager delivered the coats to each of the Program Partner
Head Starts. The family advocates from each center were
amazed at the kindness and generosity involved. Great job
Bridgewater! Take a look at the photographs from the project.
The festive cards. The card
below reads “Don’t forget to
bundle up on those cold days.
From your friends at
Jumpstart.”

VC of the Month!
Name: Ashley Tarbet
School: Emerson
Year: Senior! (4th year with Jumpstart!)
Major: Double major in Social Advocacy and New Media
Hometown: Brockton, MA
Favorite children’s book: Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss.
Why do you like it? My dad used to read it to me all the time when I was little and
it was the first book I was able to read on all on my own!
Favorite Jumpstart memory: My favorite Jumpstart memory is last year's Baskets of
Love Holiday Drive. We collected a whole lot of stuff (school supplies, art supplies,
winter apparel, books, active learning materials, puzzles) for all 60 kids at our
preschool, including more than one book for each child. We drove everything to
Dorchester after finals in the middle of a snowstorm, but all the volunteers still
showed up and the reactions from the children were priceless. They loved all the
gifts they received and the teachers were really excited because the children were
excited.
Fun Fact: Last year I participated in my school’s Alternative Spring Break in
Waveland, MS. We spent the week meeting people and helping to rebuild the
community, including building a deck on stilts 14 ft. above the ground that wrapped
around three sides of a house!
