Fault Code 1

Fault Description Overcurrent (4.0 x Ih) Instantaneous

Possible Cause SVX9000 has detected current (>4xIn) in it's ouput due to: sudden heavy load increase short in the motor short in motor cables unsuitable motor DC bus voltage has exceeded it's high limit due to: too short a deceleration time high utility level or surges load changes high inertia load

Solution Check load Check motor (try a different motor) Check cables from drive to motor. Check for spinning motor start

Additional Comments Measure output amps with a meter and compare to monitor amps IGBT static check Measure Vout per phase

Overvoltage Max ratings: 230v drive 437vdc 480v drive 911 vdc 575v drive 1200vdc

Longer decel time to eliminate regeneration Use chopper and brake resistor Correct utility supply Add line impedance to eliminate surges If fault happens when drive not running, check utility for spikes. Use an oscilloscope or Dranetz recorder since a voltmeter isn't fast enough to catch. If fault happens during acceleration, lower accel time. The load may be a high inertia load and lowering accel time may solve the problem. Do motor meggar/insulation checks Check insulation on cables Install internal cabinet cooling fans

Measure DC bus volts and compare to monitor menu if the same, fault due to external conditions During running, fault may be because of load changes causing motor to increase in speed quickly causing regen. Adding a brake resistor may solve this issue. During deceleraltion is most common time for fault due to regeneration. Either change decel time, see if stopping method can be changed to "coast" to stop or add brake resistor. Check the 3 output phase currents in the monitor menu

Ground Fault (earth) (20% of Ih trip limit) Replaced by F31 in FR 4 - 8 and F8 in FR 9

Sum of motor phase currents is not equal to zero Insulation failure in motor or cables Internal over temp

Emergency Stop Saturation Trip (high di/dt thru IGBT's)

Reset fault and restart Check DC bus voltage Faulty component(s) Emerg Stop input received from option card Check opt card connections in control box Defective component Motor or motor cable short Can not be reset from keypad Switch off power IF PROBLEM IS NOT IN THE MOTOR OR CABLES DO NOT RECONNECT POWER If fault appears simultaneously with Fault 1, check motor and motor cables. Reset and restart Check input voltage and monitor for voltage sags Reset fault and try to restart If within spec, internal component failure

F4 fault in a SVX should no longer exist. It did exist in software 2003 and older but it has been replaced by 2 different faults. The F4 fault used to be caused by a driver board overtemp in FR8 and smaller units and a loss of voltage to the driver boards in the FR9 and above sizes Now the power board overtemp is included in the F14 drive overtemp fault for the FR8 and smaller drives and the loss of voltage is included in F8 system fault for FR9 and above drives. Check cable between control box and power board

Possible undersized drive rating Too large of a load Short motor cable runs, cable routing, noise, grounds etc Check that the brake chopper par in gr 7 are set correctly for the application Faulty IGBT or Driver circuitry Check sub-fault codes in T1-T16 menu Check DC bus volts in monitor menu and compare to DC bus at DC power terminals
