INTRODUCTION
Today, the R is one of the fastest growing statistical computing software and is a direct competitor to SAS, SPSS, Minitab, Stat and others established statistical software. The SPSS founder, who also started a R software company, Dr Norman Nie, during one of the interview, simply put that R as one the most powerful statistical computing language on the planet and there is no statistical equation that cannot be calculated in R. R is a software environment for statistical computing and graphics that can run on UNIX, Linux, Windows and Macintosh platforms. The R software originated from AT&T Bell Laboratories in 1984 and currently administrated by the R Foundation, based in Austria. The foundation is a non-profit organization working in the public interest and has the charter to advance the R to provide a free and open source software environment. There are hundreds of institutions of higher learning, research institutions and companies around the world such as AT&T, Google, Merck, Shell, Stanford University, John Hopkins University and others support the R Foundation initiative. The R has huge support from the communities, and in fact it has earned the reputation to has the latest and most sophisticated statistical algorithm that is developed by professor of statistics and mathematics.

WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES
The R is a mature and complete software tool that provides a wide variety of statistical and graphical techniques for parameter and non parameter methods, linear and nonlinear modelling, statistical tests, time series analysis, classification, clustering and many more specialize statistical analysis. It has a history of more than 25 years and like any other powerful and useful software available freely, the adoption rate is accelerating, hundreds of website is related to R and thousands of articles on R release each year. The R Foundation alone has published a list close to 100 reference books related to R and Amazon.com carried more than 100 titles related to use of R for statistical analysis. The R standard configuration has more than 25 packages consisting of statistical models, mathematical functions, graphics devices, routine to communicate with external application like web server, databases and other common application like MS Excel, SPSS, SAS, Minitab and others. There are also more than 2,423 excellent add-on packages developed by the statistical communities around the world, readily for download to extend the functionality of R. As with most of the new users to R, you typically face with overloaded of information on R and need assistant to start using it. For this reason, the objective of this program is to help you by dissecting the R into simple to understand and guide you to use the R in a productive manner at the shortest possible time. Anyone who has the need for data analysis with minimum computer skills but with no knowledge on R will directly benefit from this program.

There are very few things that SAS or SPSS will do that R cannot, while R can do a wide range of things that the others cannot
Robert Muenchen, Author, R for SAS and SPSS Users
