M. Tech. Mechanical Engineering (CAD/CAM) Introduction, Scope and Objectives of Programme Computer-Aided Design (CAD) is the use of wide range of computer-based tools that assist engineers in their design activities. It involves both software and special-purpose hardware. The capabilities of modern CAD systems include reuse of design components, ease of design modification and versioning, automatic generation of standard components of the design, validation/verification of designs against specifications and design rules, simulation of designs, finite element analysis and automated design of assemblies etc. Development in CAD results in real-time process simulation and Computer Numerically Controlled manufacturing. Integrating ComputerAided Manufacturing (CAM) with Computer-Aided Design systems which are the part of the CIM (Computer Integrated Manufacturing) produces quicker and more efficient manufacturing processes. The curriculum has been designed in consultation with expert academicians, industry experts and researchers keeping in pace with the present technological developments and industry needs. The programme is conducted by well-versed faculty, invited experts from reputed institutions and industries. SEMESTER-IV Major Project PartII (Full time)

The last two semesters are entirely devoted to Major Project work being carried out either in-house or in the reputed industries. PG Project Areas Students carryout their Major Projects in the areas of Finite Element Analysis and design optimization of critical components of various machines, Fatigue analysis of structures, Design & optimization of various manufacturing processes. Various software in the area of CAD/CAM, FEA and Optimization are being used extensively by the students for their Major Projects. The students are motivated to present papers in conferences and renowned journals based on their projects. Laboratory Facilities A CAD/CAM centre equipped with CNC lathe alongwith latest computing and software facilities are available. Software such as ANSYS, Pro/E, MasterCAM, I-DEAS, Hyperworks, NX 7, CATIA V5 R20, AutoCAD etc. are extensively used by the students during their academic schedule. A sophisticated Articulated Robot Scorbot-ER 4u and Plotter have been added to the existing facilities. Full access to internet and web based resources like e-journals are also available to the students.

M. Tech. Mechanical Engineering (Thermal Engineering) Introduction, Scope and Objectives of programme Thermal Engineering has an increasingly dominant role to play in the vital areas of Power Generation, Automobiles, R&AC and Energy sector. The M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering (Thermal Engineering) programme is designed to provide a sound and an in-depth knowledge and training in various aspects of design, manufacture, testing, control and evaluation of Thermal Equipments and Systems. The course content aims at developing the necessary analytical and technical competence among engineers in these areas and is tailor made to prepare post graduates ready to take up developmental and research activities related to Thermal Engineering. The curriculum has been designed in consultation with experts from academic institutions of repute, research organizations and industries keeping in pace with current technological developments and industry needs. Laboratory Facilities The department is equipped with modern laboratory facilities in the area of Thermal Insulation, IC Engines, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning and Heat Transfer. A well developed computer centre equipped with latest computing and software facilities is available. The software available are ANSYS & FLUENT, Pro/E, CATIA V5 R20, AutoCAD, HTRI etc. Full access to internet and web based resources like e-journals, Indian Standards are also available. Ph. D. Mechanical Engineering (Design Engineering) Introduction, Scope and Objective of Programme The course on Design Engineering presents an integrated approach to design of mechanical systems using interrelationship between force, stress and failure analysis in real world design. The advanced computational and analysis tools are incorporated to enhance the capability of the designer. The scope of the course ranges from conventional design to design code to highly sophisticated and advanced Computer-Aided Design (CAD). The objective of the program is to produce quality design engineers to cater to the needs of the relevant industry. M. Tech. Mechanical Engineering (Computer Integrated Manufacturing) Introduction, Scope and Objectives of Programme Computer Integrated Manufacturing(CIM) developed primarily in response to the demands of the market for more product variety, better quality and lower price. CIM is the integration of the total manufacturing enterprise through the use of integrated systems and data communication. It is the umbrella term under which CAD/CAM, Flexible Manufacturing (FMS) and Computer Aided Production Management (CAPM) find a place. Development in CIM results in real-time process simulation and Computer Numerically Controlled manufacturing. It involves both software and special-purpose hardware. Implementation of CIM in any organization results in tangible and intangible benefits such as higher profit, increased productivity, reduced inventory, customer satisfaction, higher employee morale. The course is helpful to learn Optimization of various manufacturing processes using Finite Element Analysis, Design and optimization of various tooling used in manufacturing processes, Developments and integration of CAD and CAM, Development of process planning and production management systems using advanced methods like neural networks, fuzzy logic, genetic algorithms, condition monitoring and fault diagnosis, design for manufacturing and design for assembly.
