OCCUPY GATHERING 12.12.

12 A WORLD WITHOUT BORDERS

SYNOPSIS: Occupy Gathering Working Group is calling for a World Without Borders International Occupy Gathering, focusing on immigration issues caused by the closed International Mexico-American border, on Dec 9 through Dec 12, 2012 with the main day of action on Dec 12, 2012 12.12.12. The four day gathering will include teach-ins and direct actions near the southern border of California, yet an exact location has not yet been determined. 34 states in this country are currently trying to pass anti-immigration laws, which show blatant oppression against migrants, immigrants, documented and undocumented workers in this country. Migrants and undocumented workers in this country live in some of the most oppressed communities and deal with some of the worst oppression created by the corrupt 1 % of the world. The 1% wants to keep oppressing communities of those in the 99% by using invisible borders that manipulate the system to economically oppress people who have been marginalized in the system. It is not fair trade agreements that we have with other nations - they are slave trade and resource pillaging agreements. The free trade agreements create ways to exploit immigrants in this country and citizens of other nations so that corporations can make profit at the cost of

human life. As a collective community we need to have a proactive action take place in order to achieve A World Without Borders.

A. OBJECTIVE: Occupy Gathering Working Group is hosting an Occupy Gathering on 12.12.12 to address current immigration issues, and demand justice for the 99% marginalized by immigrations issues. Grievances such as unjustifiable deportations, wage theft, unjust detentions, and poor working condition are just a few of many things we need to address during the four days of actions. B. ISSUES: The issues about immigration are broken down into three subject matters 1. Social 2. Economics 3. Politics C. CATEGORIES - The objective is for everyone to comprehend the relationship between the three subject matters in regards to immigration and the role of the 1% through the process of workshops, conversation, and direction actions. Each issue will be given one day and broken into 3 Categories 1. Day One Social Issues i. Education/Workshops ii. Conversations iii. Direct Actions 2. Day Two Economics Issues i. Education/Workshops ii. Conversations iii. Direct Actions 3. Day Three Political Issues i. Education/Workshops ii. Conversations iii. Direct Actions 4. Day Four Direct Action Vision Process at the border with Occupy Mexico and Occupy Tijuana to answer the question What would a world without borders look like? D. GOAL: The goal is for the participants to be able to articulate their messages through the process of engaging in the above itinerary. After engaging in each category everyone will be able to utilize the information and resources they have acquired to help create the final direct action. Creating the final direct action will be a visioning process on the southern border that will attempt to answer the question What would a world without borders look like? E. PLANNING LOGISITICS This model is borrowed from the non-decision making Spokes Council. The format intends to have various affinity and collective working groups work together on the vision, teach-ins, and direct actions.
By using this process, diverse people of all ideologies will be able to come together to work on all aspects of the gathering with the understanding that peaceful messaging and safety for all are the main priorities during the planning.

F. Why Plan the Action Collectively on A National Level? Due the potential increase of involvement of community, this action will have weekly conference calls. We understood that people have priorities and prior commitments. We also recognize that it will take a lot time and effort to make this action happen. Due to the intense planning of the previous Occupy National gathering, and the burden left to previous Occupy hosts, it was consented for this action to be planned as a collective effort on a national level. We dont want to take away responsibility from local organizers who have prior arrangements and planned commitments in their local occupation, yet we also want it to be inclusive so that anyone who wants to participate can. G. Autonomous actions are encouraged while staying on message and working to plan so everyone can attend any action without possible time conflicts. H. CONCLUSION As we continue to move the Occupy movement forward, we truly need to put ourselves in other peoples shoes. Our obligation to help evolve the immigration situation beyond its suppressive tendency, and hold those accountable who maintain oppression of immigrants in United Sates, is what is going to move this issue forward. As the final action takes place on the southern immigration boarder, we can only hope that both countries can simultaneously create a vision on how we can make A World Without Borders.
Consented Action By Occupy National Working Group: July 1, 2012 PROPOSAL A. PROPOSAL: We are asking for Occupy San Diego to endorse the action 12.12.12 A World Without Borders. The National Occupy gathering event will be on Dec 9th through Dec 12th, 2012 to stand in solidarity to address immigration issues and the role of 1%. Part of this consent is the understanding that a consented action plan on July 1, 2012 by the Occupy National Working Group will be the foundation for action, with the intent of holding teach-ins/workshops, conversations and non-violent direct actions addressing immigration issues. On the fourth day, 12.12.12, there will be a march to the southern boarder with NO INTENT TO BLOCK THE BORDERS, but instead to meet with Occupy Mexico and Occupy Tijuana to have a visioning process to answer the question What would a world without borders look like? NOTE: If any decisions are made during the process of consent in community GAs please e-mail us back at infoog12.12.12@gmail.com. If you consent to this action please note the date and time the action was consented upon. Thank you, Occupy National Gathering Working Group
