November 29, 2011 Dear V.

Bharthuar Ji I am writing this letter to request you to increase the height of platforms at Thana-Bihpur & Narayanpur railway stations. Sir, the current height of platforms at these two stations is very low. People of all sorts - aged, students, ladies, sick board & deboard the trains from these stations. They find it inconvenient and troublesome to embark/disembark the trains at such low-level platforms. A Number of accidents have been reported here due to the current user-unfriendly platforms. Being peoples representative, they have complained to me about the present condition of the railway platforms and have asked me to address these difficulties that they face on daily basis. Several MLAs & MPs who board the trains from these stations too have complained the same & have asked me to convey their grievances to you. I, myself have paid a personal visit to these stations and have found the peoples grievances pretty genuine. Ive been informed that both the stations fall under B category and the height of platforms at these two stations is already up to the permitted limits. However, I believe the current height is not sufficient enough to bring relief to the local people. Hence, I would request you to kindly upgrade the stations to A category or increase the height of the platforms at these stations so that the accidents can be prevented in future and passengers could board the trains safely. I would be grateful if you could look into the matter and ensure the completion of the work as early as possible. With warm regards, Yours sincerely,

(Syed Shahnawaz Hussain) Shri V. Bharthuar GM, East-Central Railway, Hajipur, Dist. Vaishali, Bihar
