NAMAL COLLEGE ADMISSIONS 2012

WHERE IS NAMAL COLLEGE; ARE THERE MULTIPLE CAMPUSES IN PAKISTAN? There is only one campus of Namal College, which is located in Mianwali District, 30 km from Mianwali City on Talagang Road. WHAT PROGRAMMES ARE OFFERED AT NAMAL COLLEGE AND WHAT IS THEIR DURATION? There are two programmes being offered: BEng Electrical and Electronic Engineering; BSc (Hons) Computer Science. Both are 4-year degree programmes. WHICH DEGREE WILL I BE AWARDED UPON GRADUATION FROM NAMAL COLLEGE? Namal College is an associate College of the University of Bradford, UK. The degrees awarded will be exactly the same as offered by the University of Bradford in UK. WHAT IS THE ELIGIBILITY TO APPLY FOR ADMISSIONS? Candidates who have completed their FSc/A-Levels/12th grade (or equivalent) are eligible to apply. Those with DAE can also apply. Candidates awaiting their final year results can also apply; their final admission will be conditional upon their actual awarded marks. WHAT PERCENTAGE MARKS SHOULD I HAVE SECURED PRIOR TO APPLYING? The eligibility is 60% marks in FSc (or equivalent). IS THERE ANY SUBJECT REQUIREMENT TO APPLY FOR BENG ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONIC ENGINEERING? The candidate must have studied Physics and Maths at FSc (or equivalent) level. IS THERE ANY SUBJECT REQUIREMENT TO APPLY FOR BSC (HONS) COMPUTER SCIENCE? The candidate must have studied Maths at FSc (or equivalent) level. HOW DO I APPLY? Applications can only be made ONLINE till 10 July 2012 through the College website: www.namal.edu.pk. IS THERE ANY APPLICATION FEES? Yes. The non-refundable application processing fees is Rs 1000/-. The application fees needs to be paid BEFORE the online form is filled. HOW DO I PAY THE APPLICATION FEES? The application fees can be deposited at any UBL branch in the world. You will need the following information to submit the fee challan: Account Title [Namal College Mianwali], Branch Name [UBL Rikhi Mianwali], Branch Code [1797], Current Account # [0100778-7]. Some branches may charge a processing fee which will be in addition to the application fees of Rs 1000/-.

WHAT IS THE ADMISSIONS TIME-LINE FOR 2012? 17 June [Admissions Open] 10 July [Applications Deadline] 14 July [Entry Test] 25 July [Intake Initial Round] 22 August [Intake Final Round] 12 September [Registration Deadline] 24 September [Classes Begin]. WHAT IS THE FEES STRUCTURE? The detail of the fees is available on the website and e-prospectus. The College reserves the right to amend fees structure with prior notification to the successful candidates. IS THERE ANY FINANCIAL AID AVAILABLE? Yes. Need-based financial aid is available. WILL THERE BE ANY ENTRY TEST? Yes. The entry test details will be available on the website. WHEN AND IN WHICH CITIES WILL THE ENTRY TEST BE CONDUCTED? The test will be conducted in the following 6 cities on Saturday 14 July 2012: Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta, and Mianwali. DO I NEED TO BRING ANYTHING AT THE ADMISSIONS TEST VENUE? Yes. You need to be able to produce these 4 things on the entry test centre: 1) A copy of your CNIC or B-Form; 2) The original bank deposit slip clearly indicating the date of deposit; 3) Your Mobile No. 4) One passport sized photograph. ARE THERE ANY PREPARATION CLASSES FOR THE ENTRY TEST? Yes. The classes will be held in Namal College, Mianwali and are free for all. Please check the website for further details. I CANNOT ATTEND THE PREPARATION CLASSES. ARE THERE ANY SAMPLE TESTS? Yes. The sample questions are available on the website. HOW WILL I FIND OUT ABOUT THE ENTRY TEST RESULT? The website will be updated with general notification about the result, and successful candidates will be contacted directly through email. ARE THERE ANY MERIT LISTS? No. Only successful candidates will be contacted directly after the entry test for the next stage of admissions. Admissions will proceed on a rolling basis, until the till the registration date. HOW MANY SEATS ARE AVAILABLE FOR EACH PROGRAMME? There are 40 seats each for the BEng Electrical and Electronic Engineering and BSc (Hons) Computer Science programmes (80 in total). ARE THERE ANY QUOTA SEATS IN NAMAL COLLEGE? No. Admission is strictly on merit basis, without any bias of gender, race, religion, or ethnicity.

I WANT TO RETURN TO STUDIES AFTER A GAP IN MY EDUCATION. IS THERE AN AGE LIMIT FOR APPLICATIONS? All applicants who qualify on merit will be considered. There is no age limit. I AM STUDYING AT ANOTHER UNIVERSITY IN SIMILAR PROGRAMMES. CAN I TRANSFER MY CREDITS TO NAMAL COLLEGE? No. There is no transfer option at the moment. WILL THERE BE ANY INTERVIEWS FOR ADMISSIONS? No. WILL THERE BE ANY INTERVIEWS FOR FINANCIAL AID? Interviews might follow after scrutiny of the requisite paperwork, which are to be submitted AFTER candidates clear the entry test and are offered a place by Namal College. IS THERE CO-EDUCATION IN NAMAL COLLEGE? Yes. Namal College has the distinction of being the first professional institution in the district that accords equal learning opportunities to both females and males. IS HOSTEL ACCOMMODATION AVAILABLE? Yes. There are multiple hostels which are separate for females and males. They are situated a short drive away from the College, and students commute on College buses. There is no accommodation on Campus. DOES NAMAL COLLEGE HAVE ANY POLITICAL AFFILIATIONS? Namal College has no political affiliations, and no political parties are allowed representation on campus. IS NAMAL COLLEGE RECOGNIZED BY HEC? Yes. HEC recognizes Namal College as an associate College of the University of Bradford, UK. IS NAMAL COLLEGE ACCREDITED BY PEC?
