Career Development Office at Suffolk University Law School

By Teresa Cajot At the Career Development Office (CDO) at Suffolk University School of Law, six career counselors and three career staff members are available to assist students, alumni, and employers with a variety of needs, ranging from career planning and interview preparation to resume collections and hosting job fairs.

Mary Karen Rogers has served as the Executive Director of Career Development at Suffolk University School of Law, since 2007. She began working at the law school in 2002 and has served in the positions of Associate Director of the CDO and Budget and Program Coordinator for the Rappaport Honors Program in Law and Public Service. Rogers has an MA in Counseling and Human Resource Development. Christopher Teague, Esq. joined the CDO as its Associate Director in 2010, after working at Northeastern University School of Law as a career advisor. He also served as the Director of Admissions for the MGH Institute of Health Professions. He holds a JD from Northeastern University School of Law. Dorothy Commons, the CDOs Assistant Director for Programs joined the law school as a career counselor in 1998. She has served in her current role since 2000. Prior to 1998, Commons held the role of Director of Career Services at New England School of Law. She has a MS in counseling psychology from Northeastern University. Douglas Saphire, Esq., the centers Assistant Director, interned with the Rappaport Center for Law and Public Service at Suffolk Law School prior to taking on his current role. He holds a JD from Syracuse University College of Law, where he graduated cum laude. Maureen Ricciuti initially joined the Suffolk University Law School CDO in 1994 as the Assistant Director. She remained in that position until 2001 and is now a part-time career counselor. She has worked in career services since 1989, first working at the National Law Center at George Washington

University and then at the New England School of Law. Ricciuti has a MA in education and human development from George Washington University. Margaret Talmers joined the CDO in 2008 as a Judicial Clerkship Advisor. In the past she served as an adjunct professor at Northeastern University School of Law, where she taught legal research and writing. Talmers has also worked as a Co-op Advisor in Northeasterns Office of Cooperative Legal Education. She earned her JD from Northeastern University School of Law. Elizabeth (Betsy) Armour has been with Suffolk University School of Law since 2008 as the Director of Employer Relations. Her past career experience includes time as the Director of Career Development at Boston University School of Law and as the Director of Legal Recruiting at Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge. Armour graduated from Smith College with a degree in Italian language and literature. Michelle Dobbins, who is currently the CDOs Associate Director for Recruiting and Marketing, has held a number of positions with the law school since she was first hired in 1998. She has been a career development assistant, recruitment coordinator, recruitment manager, and an assistant director. She graduated from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, summa cum laude, with a BS in finance. Jessica Bonzek, the CDOs Office Coordinator, has been at Suffolk University School of Law since the beginning of 2010. She graduated summa cum laude from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts with a BA in Fine and Performing Arts.
