New Liskeard, ON Named Ninth Tour Stop on the 2012 Kraft Celebration Tour; Will Host TSN and Kraft Canada in August

As part of the Kraft Celebration Tour, New Liskeard hosts a special edition of SPORTSCENTRE featuring anchors Darren Dutchyshen and Kate Beirness when they close out their leg of the tour and broadcast live from the community on Saturday, Aug. 25 at 6 p.m. ET on TSN. New Liskeard also receives $25,000 from Kraft Canada to put towards the construction of the Carter Antila Memorial Skatepark. New Liskeard is the commercial centre for the district now called the City of Temiskaming Shores. Located at the head of beautiful Lake Temiskaming, the City of Temiskaming Shores is comprised of three towns: Haileybury, Dymond and New Liskeard, which currently boasts a population of 11,000. The Carter Antila Memorial Skatepark will honour the memory of Carter Antila, whose passion for skateboarding is echoed today by the local youth in the community. New Liskeard joins Creston, B.C., Clarenville, NL, Cochrane, AB, Pugwash, NS, Porcupine Plain, SK, Bathurst, NB, Manitou, MB, and Chicoutimi, QC, as one of the 10 winning communities in the Kraft Celebration Tour. New Liskeard was named to the tour after winning a national, head-to-head online vote over Kakabeka Falls, ON. New Liskeard brought home the victory with 372,291 votes, while Kakabeka Falls amassed a total of 102,607 votes in support of its nomination.

Canadians can decide the final winning community for the Kraft Celebration Tour today, as the last community match-up Trenton, ON vs. Lindsay, ON is now featured on KraftCelebrationTour.ca and Tourneedecelebrationkraft.ca. Canadians can visit both websites to vote for their favourite community. Voting is unlimited and runs from 12 noon ET each day for a 24-hour period. During the voting period, SPORTSCENTRE on TSN and SPORTS 30 on RDS profile each match-up with a look at the duelling communities and their proposed recreation facility improvement projects. Results of each vote will be announced the following weekday on SPORTSCENTRE and SPORTS 30.
