DESIGN CONCEPT CLOSE TO NATURE DESIGN : Form of the Museum is derived from components of nature.

COMPONENTS The mountain as sacred center Mountain as Places of Revelation Mountain as Gods Mountains as life and death places Persistence of Mountains Cosmic mountain represented in temple architecture: Stupa (Buddhist temple) shaped in form of a dome with gateways to the four directions.

MUSEUM ON THE EVOLUTION OF THE HISTORY AND CIVILIZATION OF THE INDIAN SUBCONTINENT PATNA, BIHAR

As the site lies lies in Patna. To promote the heritage to international level, form of the museum is close to nature as well as derived from Stupa. STUPA is the main architectural master piece of Bihar. It will be an ICONIC landmark for the city. Dome of the building is divided into 8 parts which depicts the eight fold path of buddha enlightenment.

PLANNING Main central building will be derived from the shape of mountain which is close to nature and with referce to the historic personalities like Ashoka. Central column in the dome depicls the Ashoka pillar. LANDSCAPING It is the most important component to make it more closer to nature. Stupa garden is designed in the central courtyard of Museum building. It is sacred garden in buddhism. There is central stupa fountain and people meditate around it. It is surrounded with hedges for peace. Ashoka trees are planted around it. ORIENTATION All the galleries are placed according to the orientation (NE-direction) for glare free light. Sleek windows in walls and cutouts are given for natural and glare free light. Courtyards are designed after certain intervals as relief spaces and for natural lighting.

AUDITORIUM MUSEUM GALLERIES MAIN ENT. AND ADMINISTRATIVE

RESEARCH BLOCK

Auditorium building has separated entrance but it is also connected internally. Service area is given on the back side of the building. All the services like loading unloading are on the back side.

COLOR SCHEME of the museum is derived from the stupa and terracotta. Teracotta is local material of Bihar.. Terracotta texture is given on fecade and dark orange plus reddish color roof . These are color of wisdom. in budha
