National
English Lacrosse has seen an expansion of sport in the last five years where participation has increased moving towards getting national coverage on television ,The National Development Programme has been the main driver for this expansion of the sport by ensuring that people are introduced to Lacrosse, encouraged to participate and how to Keep playing, coaching or volunteering. English Lacrosse is the joint national governing body for Mens and Womens Lacrosse in England, it was formed in 1996 by the joining together of the All England Womens Lacrosse Association And the English Lacrosse Union, which is the mens governing body.

Regional
Regionally there are minimal amounts of lacrosse clubs, lacrosse only have two clubs per region, this is the unfortunate result of un-interested parties Lacrosse within the UK are trying to develop more teams for younger participants, which in the long run is beneficial for the clubs with older participants because when these younger participants get older, theyll become the older participants and therell be new youngsters in the younger clubs.

Local

For lacrosse, locally there is a league that people can participate within, whether it is for competitive reasons or just as a recreational sport or maybe even just to keep fit and healthy. There are 3 main lacrosse clubs in Bath, these clubs are: Bath Mens lacrosse club Bath eights Bath Ladies lacrosse club.

Functions

English Lacrosses vision or plan is to make lacrosse one of the biggest sports within the UK, other sporting governing bodies such as Fifa or the RFU dont have too try so hard because they are already the biggest two sporting governors within the UK and dont really need to be improved upon because they already have such a wide basis. The way that lacrosse associations are going to do this is by increasing participation for all.

Rule-making
The Rules of play are the responsibility of the Mens Playing Committee and Womens Playing Committee, following as closely as is practicable and desirable. The Rules, including any revision made from time to time, has been prepared and published by the Association and issued to member Clubs and Associations. Every member club and Association shall be bound to play the game in accordance with, and be bound by, these rules.

and a lot of people dont really want to spend the sort of money on them that is expected by the merchandisers, its an expensive trade for the people on the buying end of the deals. So it doesnt surprise me that lacrosse isnt as big as football or rugby or cricket, basketball etc.

Competitions and tournaments

Mens World Championships, Manchester, England , The 2010 World championships was the biggest International Lacrosse event ever staged. Up to 30 teams brought over 1,000 players and officials to England. The Championship had a budget of 1,500,000 and were the biggest event held in Manchester since the 2002 Commonwealth Games creating a Considerable challenge for the limited resources of English Lacrosse.

Training of officials
For the young officials award you must be of 14 years or older to coach a team, the same applies to the introduction of practical lacrosse, the course certification needed is the English lacrosse certificate but for the level 1 VRQ or above you must be of at least 16 years of age to get to level one you must have the introduction to UK qualification and to get to level two you need the level one qualification this applies for each level of the course you wish to progress too. You need other qualifications form different various courses if you wish to progress further than level one.
