LEcole no. 41
2009 Walla Walla Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Tasting Notes With an elegant, old world structure, this sophisticated Cabernet shows aromas of dark fruit, earth, and fresh herbs. A seamless core of blackberry, plum, and dark cherry mingle with notes of tobacco and leather on a dusty tannin, richly structured finish. Winemaker's Comments This complex and elegant Cabernet Sauvignon reflects the diversity of terroir in the Walla Walla Valley from vineyards planted in wind-blown loess (our Estate Seven Hills Vineyard and Loess Vineyard), ice-age flood silts (Va Piano Vineyard and Pepper Bridge Vineyard) and basalt river rock (Yellow Jacket Vineyard). These prestigious vineyards are certified Salmon Safe. Winemaking Nearly 30 years of meticulous vineyard management and winemaking experience are fundamental to the quality of our wines and reputation for excellence. We are engaged in growing and making 100% of our wines. Gentle handling of the fruit through hand punch downs and gravity assisted movements were utilized throughout the entire winemaking process. The wine was cleanly racked to 100% small French oak barrels, 40% new, with five rackings over 22 months.

LEcole no. 41
2008 Columbia Valley Merlot
Tasting Notes Rich with pretty aromatic aromas of nutmeg, clove and spice, this dark and brooding Merlot shows black cherry, blackberry, and earthy dark fruit flavors encased in a peppery, cocoa, toasty finish. Winemaker Comment LEcole No 41 is recognized as one of Washington States top producers of premium Merlot and this wine delivers with great structure, color and balanced acidity. Vineyards Stone Tree, Estate Seven Hills, Dionysus, Weinbau, Candy Mountain, Klipsun, Pepper Bridge and Loess. Vintage A slow, cool spring in 2008 delayed bud break, but warm May weather set the stage for uniform bloom and fruit set. Summer heat units were normal minus the typical July heat spikes. Windier conditions increased vine stress resulting in added effort to manage canopy growth for balance. August veraison was smooth requiring very little green thinning. Near perfect fall conditions resulted in only a slightly later than normal harvest for most varietals. Considered a cool year, we saw higher acidity levels with yields slightly below average.

LEcole no. 41
2009 Estate Syrah Seven Hills Vineyard Walla Walla Valley

Seven Hills Vineyard LEcole No 41 is a partner in the 230 acre acclaimed Seven Hills Vineyard, which is planted in windblown loess of geologically young and mineral rich soils. This Certified Sustainable and Certified Salmon Safe vineyard was recognized as one of the Ten Great Vineyards of the World by Wine & Spirits Magazine. Tasting Notes This Seven Hills Vineyard Estate Syrah is loaded with dark aromas of leather and tobacco with hints of white pepper. The rich mid-palate shows flavors of ripe plum, olive, and dense blackberry that give way to a concentrated and unrelenting, earthy mineral finish.

LEcole no. 41
2011 Columbia Valley Chenin Blanc
Tasting Notes This fresh, vibrant and fruity Chenin Blanc shows rich floral aromatics of jasmine, lavender, and orange blossom with flavors of star fruit, apple and apricot on a crisp mineral finish. Winemaker's Comments LEcole N. 41 has produced this old vine, Vouvray style Chenin Blanc since 1987. Jean Ferguson, LEcole N. 41s founding winemaker, loved this wine and crafted her version of Vouvray through cold fermentation to enhance the fruity and floral esters.. Higher natural acidity, longer hang-time and concentrated fruit from low yields resulted in brilliant color, flavor intensity and overall balance. Winemaking 100% Chenin Blanc. The settled juice was racked off the solids then fermented slowly in a stainless steel tank over an extended period of time at cool temperatures to yield rich and fruity flavors. Upon completion the fermentation was stopped by cold suppression and the wine was filtered. Twomey
2011 Estate Sauvignon Blanc
Winemakers Notes Our 2011 Estate Sauvignon Blanc has as a light golden hay color with green edges. The aromatics burst forth with sweet custard apple, green melon and lemongrass notes accentuated by hints of fresh guava, candied pineapple, cream and brioche. On the palate, flavors of bright lime peel and citrus combine with hints of vanilla custard and grapefruit pith. The wine has ample weight on the mid-palate with a bright acid backbone supporting a creamy richness and notes of pie crust, leading to a clean crisp lingering finish. We grow Sauvignon Blanc on two estate properties: our vineyard surrounding our Calistoga winery and our Westside Road Vineyard below our winery in Russian River Valley. The soil and climate differences at these two sites gives us a range of expressions of Sauvignon Blanc that we blend to create our unique style. The Napa Valley fruit offers us a deft balance of citrus and mineral elements which is complemented beautifully by the guava and tropical notes from our Sonoma County fruit. With careful viticulture and judicious winemaking, we capture the essence of the soil and sunny climate in which these grapes are grown, and the minerality and freshness so becoming to this varietal. Vineyard Composition: Calistoga Vineyard 65%, Westside Road Vineyard 35% Fermentation: 50% French oak barrels and puncheons, 30% stainless steel tanks, 20% stainless steel drums

Twomey
2010 Andersen Valley Pinot Noir
Tasting Notes 2010 Anderson Valley Pinot Noir has a brilliant color of red rose petals and a nose of wild strawberries, raspberries, roses, violets and a hint of bay leaf.. The palate explodes with fresh ripe berries and floral notes, and progresses to a velvety mid-palate followed by a long finish that echoes with the wild brambly fruit found in the nose.. The 2010 growing season was mild and cool with heavy cloud cover and fog during most of the summer months. However, the heat wave in August, though not as dramatic as in Sonoma County, delivered a welcome push to skin ripeness and flavor development. This long, cool growing season in the Anderson Valley produced wines of great flavor intensity, beautiful acid balance and great complexity an ideal season for elegant, intense wines with a great expression of place. The nose opens slowly to reveal pleasing aromas of berry tart, baking spice and toasty oak. On entry, there is a blast of very appealing cherry and raspberry fruit that clings to the lengthy finish. Subtle notes of cinnamon spice, vanilla and oak add interest. Discreet intensity, delicious tasting and noticeably crisp with supple tannins. A beautiful wine. Wine reviewer L Pierce Carson

Blending and Aging Our 2007 Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, a blend of wine from several different vineyards, is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. We blended the vineyard lots in early 2008 and transferred the wine to 50% new and 50% once-used American oak barrels for aging. 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon

J. Lohr Estates
2011 Bay Mist Riesling
Winemakers Comments The 2011 Bay Mist White Riesling is a youthful, pale yellow color with enticing aromas of lychee, fuji apple, pear and apricot. The flavors are bright, echoing the aromas with the addition of tangelo and orange citrus fruit for an excellent balance of crisp acidity, luscious mouthfeel and a touch of natural carbonation from the stainless steel fermentation. Jeff Meier, winemaker Vintage The 2011 vintage was one of the coldest since the El Nio and La Nia years of 1998 and 1999. In fact, parts of the Arroyo Seco had their first vine-damaging spring frost, ever! White Riesling is the last variety to ripen and was not optimally ripe until the 2nd and 3rd of November! Our patience was rewarded in 2011, as this is perhaps our finest Riesling ever produced at J. Lohr. Vineyards The vines for our J. Lohr Bay Mist White Riesling are grown in well-drained Chualar loam soils underlain by stones deposited from the Arroyo Seco River. The winds of the Salinas Valley extend the growing season, and the fruit retains its natural grape acids. Our primary goal with this varietal is to evoke the purest manifestation of fruit from the vineyard, enhanced by a combination of cultured yeasts fermented in stainless steel to showcase the grapes character. Food Pairings Enjoy this as an aperitif, or pair with Pacific Rim cuisine such as Thai chicken or beef satay, or Cuban bbq. Wine List description Enticing fruit aromas of lychee, apple, apricot and pear. Refreshing acidity with a slight spritz.

16

J.Lohr Estates
2010 Riverstone Chardonnay
Vintage 2010 was also an above-average crop year, which slowed ripening down at the end of the growing season, allowing us to selectively harvest each block with the optimum balance of flavor, sugar concentration and acidity. Harvest commenced on the 30th of September and continued until the last days of October. Vineyards The vines for our J. Lohr Estates Riverstone Chardonnay are grown primarily on Elder loam soils underlain by riverstones deposited over thousands of years by the Arroyo Seco River. These stones allow a four- foot rooting zone that keeps the vines vegetative growth and fruit in balance. Additionally, the cool climate and winds of the Salinas Valley extend the growing season and retain the natural grape acids and intense varietal character of the Chardonnay. Winemakers Comments This elegant Chardonnay has an attractive pale strawyellow color. The aromas are of pear, apple and stone fruits, combined with a perfumed roasted hazelnut and butterscotch bouquet from the barrel fermentation and sur lie aging. The flavors are very soft with ripe pear, tangelo citrus and vanilla toastiness, producing layers of complexity with a silky balance of fresh fruit acidity and palate-weight. Jeff Meier, winemaker Food Pairings This wine is excellent with roasted chicken, linguine with clam sauce and Dungeness crab. Wine List Description A full-bodied Chardonnay with a balance of fruit and oak toastiness and a palate-cleansing acidity.
