. Evidently, this particular passage addresses a strong validation of what is happening in the social order today. But the question is what could be the input of the lower class in the so-called change that was said to be the elitists position in the society? In a third-world country, existence of countless flawed and inappropriate issues between the present day indios and illustrados are at liberty. One has monopolized the command of societys advancement the distressing truth of the present arrangement of the general public. How can a social movement be effective if the involvement of the public is limited and most likely being disregarded? Social movements play a vital role in the contemporary politics of the society. It wouldnt be efficient or effective if the work for the dimension of inequality and exclusion is still perceived (from contemporary political sociology, Nash, 2010 p.88). Hence, the role of the lower class is very significant only if they can realize what they can carry out. They can take much consideration in doing unconventional means, such as direct action, rather than working through the normal political institutions of the state. They have to be wide awakened to make a stand and reclaim their rights (Blume, 1974). I firmly believe that, the most in effect change will come not from the privileged, but from communities and marginalized groups. Realization of their role is crucial. This is what the less fortunate sectors should knock out. To become cognizant of his values, character, personal purpose, vision and mission as a leader is what they ought to do (Dulany & Smith 2009). This is what I considered as the first step, and everything else will follow. Take the full initiative in knowing what you could offer to be part of movers in the society. However it is not the work of the lower class alone. Alliance between the two parties is indeed very significant. As what Charlene Carruthers said, Oppressed groups have the ability to speak for themselves; they need allies to stand in solidarity. Let the oppressed speak for themselves, trust that they can and support them when they do. Apprehension, allies and cooperation are the keys for the unheard voices of the society be heard. We dont need leaders whether from lower class or from elitist. We need a vast change through collective works of both sides. Lets work as partners, to achieve sustainable social change and direct action that leaves a long-term mark. SOURCES:
