This hat is inspired by the tendrils of the growing snow pea shoots in my Organic Garden.

This hat is designed for a head circumference of 48-52 cm. It is knitted in the round with stripes of colours at the crown. It may be knitted plain if preferred. It helps to weave in the ends as you are knitting. Please refer to website for abbreviations. Materials: Pakucho Organic Cotton Main Colour (MC) Vanilla 1 skein Accent Colours Small amount of each Chocolate, Caf, White, Sage, Forest, Dark Green. Set of 4.5mm double pointed knitting needles. Sewing up needle.

Tension: 18st to 10cm on 4.5mm knitted in the round. Using Vanilla, cast on 28 st each onto 3 dpns. Total of 84 st. Join in a round, place marker, and commence k2 p2 rib for 10 rows. Row 11: knit all stitches for 8 cm. (Knit for longer if deeper hat required) Commence dec for crown. K2tog k10, rep till end of round. K all st next round. K2tog k9, rep till end of round. K all st next round. K2tog k8, rep till end of round. K all st next round. Change to Dark green, k2tog k7, rep till end of round. K all st next round. Change to Forest, k2tog k6, rep till end of round. K all st next round. Change to Sage, k2tog k5, rep till end of round. K all st next round. Change to White, k2tog k4, rep till end of round. K all st next round. Change to Cafe, k2tog k3, rep till end of round. K all st next round. Change to Chocolate, k2tog k2, rep till end of round. K all st next round. Change to Vanilla, k2tog k1, rep till end of round. K2tog 7 times, 7 st left. Cut yarn leaving a 20cm tail. Thread sewing up needles and draw through rem st. Fasten off. Do not cut yarn. Cut 20 cm lengths of yarn and braid them, knotting the ends. Thread through the top of hat at even intervals to form tendrils. Alternatives: 1) Make pom pom, attach to top of hat or 2) using the 7 st, decrease in next row to 4 st by k2tog 3 times, k1, then knit 4 st I-cord for 5 cm. Copyright reserved.
