We are srembers of Seton F{all University's chapter of Habitat t-or Humanity. The Seton Hall chapter is run by students under the auspices of the nonprofit" 'ecurneaical Christian housing ministry-Habitat for Humanity lnten:ational. We seek to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness by building houses in local cornmunities like Paterson, Hackensack and Newark and by educating the Seton Hall communitv about affordable housing.
Each year we take an aiternative spring break trip calied Ccilegiate Chailenge, in which we help wi& the construction of hcuses in other needy comrnunities. Last year the club was fortunate enough ta fundraise over $20,00S tc bring 27 students to Miarni, Florida r.vhere we jcined rvith students fram other colleges to build houses for local families struggiing in poverty skicken communities- Our other Ccllegiate Challenge locations include sites in South Carolia4 Georgia, and this coming year Nelv Grleans, Louisiana. Our go*l is to bring 35 students. In order to do this we must raise $20r00S. We have been working hard since September w-ith a va:iety of successful fundraisers, but lve still have a long way to gc before we achieve our goal.
