Ryan Osweiler EDTECH 542 Week 4 Reflection In reading the list of key requirements for effective assessment, I feel

the assessments for my project align with these ideas: Assessment is for students Has personal relevance for students (e.g., provides a tangible product they can use). The rubrics can be used for the development of project. Students become more confident and articulate about what they know. They will be able to demonstrate knowledge in a creative way Assessment is faithful to the work students actually do. Students are assessed on what they know and do, not what they don't. The students can design the project however they want as long as the content is there. Assessment is public. Criteria for judgment remain visible and accessible to students from the beginning. Again, the rubric can be used by students to guide their thinking Performances are viewed and judged by a broad group of people. Students will be able to show their projects to their peers and the public via the web Assessment promotes ongoing self-reflection and critical inquiry. Teachers and students both speak of the qualities of good work, and how to attain it. The instructor can demonstrate or model examples of acceptable and/or unacceptable work. Categories and criteria of assessment remain open-ended, subject to challenge and revision. Students are able to revise project based on student and teacher evaluation. When the school year begins again, I would modify the assessment to add more student input. For instance, students could identify the key concepts and principles needed for inclusion in the project. They could also help with developing the point scale on the rubric. They may feel certain areas deserve more emphasis than others.
