CHECKLIST FOR CONSTRUCTION SITE AS PER

DIFFERENT LAWS APPLICABLE TO SUCH SITES

BOCW Act, 1996

1. Are the workers covered under bocw act?

2. Whether workers have their identity card issued by contractor?

3. What are normal working hours?

4. Rest timing?

5. Wages for overtime?

6. Verification of records and registers like muster roll, etc.

7. Drinking water facility (6 meter of any washing place)

The Payment Of Wages Act, 1936

1. Responsibility of contractor for payment of wages. 2. Time of payment of wages- whether the 7 day of month or 10th day of that month? 3. Medium of payment of wages 4. Is there any kind of deduction from workers wages and for what reason of the following - Fine - Absence from duty - Damage or loss of property - Service - Recovery of advances - Recovery of loans - Other deductions 5. Registers and records for wages 6. Claims arising out of deductions from wages or delay in payment of wages ( application to be filed within 12 months.) 7. Penalty for offence (for delaying payment of wages within prescribed period or makes unauthorized deduction)) - Punishable with fine which shall not be less than Rs.1500 but which may extend to Rs.7500 8. Penalty for not paying wages on a working day or in current coin- Punishable with fine which may extend to Rs.3750 for each offence

The Minimum Wages Act, 1948
