    This document provides instructions for connecting to wi-tribe WiFi Modems made by either GEMTEK or MOTOROLA. For GEMTEK devices with MAC addresses not starting with AC, the default WiFi security settings are WEP encryption with a 10-character key of either numbers or the customer's phone number. For GEMTEK devices with MAC starting with AC, the instructions provide steps to open the CPE console and change authentication and encryption settings. For MOTOROLA devices, the default network name is 'motorola' and password. Instructions are given for logging into the modem interface and changing the SSID, security protocol to WPA/WPA2, and setting a alphanumeric key.

    Mac not begining with AC Gemtek device wifi security settings

    Mac begins with AC Gemtek device wifi security settings


    Open CPE console, Select Internet-> Wireless In Authentication Select Open System, Encryption Select WEP Default Key: 1 Key: 0123456789 or use the customers mobile number and put it as the key. e.g. 3216758354 (Must be 10 alphabets)

    Note: Please make sure all other settings remain same as per attached snapshot.

    After setting up the wi-tribe WiFi Modem, search for wireless networks

    on your computer
    The network name by default is motorola Double click or connect to the network

    In the web browser address bar enter http://192.168.15.1

    Enter motorola as password and Login

    After logging in this is the screen you will see Click on the Wi-Fi button

    By default Network SSID (name) is motorola After setting the SSID click on APPLY

    Click on Security tab on the left hand side Select WPA/WPA2 as the Security Protocol

    Key should be can be between alphanumeric (a-f & 0-9), please note that alphabets should be between a-f

    If you are unable to connect to the wireless network after changing the SSID and Network Key, follow the steps below Search for wireless networks

    Double click on the correct connection


    Enter the correct network key Press connect
