What is Post-Production?

Post-production is anything that is done after the production of something. Strictly speaking, it can be anything created, edited, modified, manipulated after the production of a product. In media and in filmmaking. Post-Production is a part of the filmmaking and video production process. It occurs in the making of motion pictures, television programs, radio programs, advertising, audio recordings, photography, and digital art. It is a term for all stages of production occurring after the actual end of shooting and/or recording the completed work. Post-Production is in fact many different things and processes which are all grouped under the industry known name of Post-Production. The Post-Production phase is by far the longest out of all stages in the production process, companies often take several months to complete the stage due to the amount of processes involved inside it.

What Post-Production stages do you need to create a Horror film?


The following points can be applied to all films, including Horror; - Video editing the picture of a film using an edit decision list. - Writing, (re)recording, and editing the soundtrack. - Adding visual special effects - mainly computer-generated imagery (CGI) and digital copy from which release prints will be made (although this may be made obsolete by digital-cinema technologies) - Sound design, Sound effects, ADR, Foley and Music, culminating in a process known as sound re-recording or mixing with professional audio equipment. - Transfer of Color motion picture film to Video or DPX with a telecine and color grading (correction) in a color suite.
