Students will create a map of New York state, tracing its boundaries and using colored pencils to trace and classify rivers, lakes, and oceans within the state. They will add a key identifying the colors used and mark the locations of 3 major cities near where they live. Students will then answer questions about the major bodies of water on the map, how city locations relate to water locations, and what bodies of water are near their own city.
