    Mapping Surface Waters Activity


    Earths surface waters include oceans, lakes, and streams. In this activity, you
    will use a map to locate and classify surface waters in New York State.
    Procedures Checklist:
    Use a black pencil to trace the boundaries of New York state.
    Use colored pencils to trace bodies of water on the map. Use different colors
    for rivers, lakes, and oceans.
    Make a key on the back of your map showing what colors you used to
    represent each type of water body.
    Mark a red dot to show the location of 3 major cities that are near where you
    live.
    Answer the questions below.
    Hand in both your map and this sheet to your teacher when you are finished.
