Topic: Kinematics Title: Projectile Objective: To study the trajectory of an object subjected to the gravitational acceleration. Theory: When an object is projected at an initial velocity
at an angle to the horizontal, the position
of the object at some later time t can be specified by two equations.
Apparatus: i. A 1.0 m aluminum V-track ii. A target board (30 cm x 100 cm) iii. Steel ball bearing (about 1 cm) iv. Carbon paper / Carbonised printing paper v. A metre rule vi. Retort stand Procedure:
Observation & data Analysis: TABLE
Graph
Discussion: [SELF creation] 1. If the ball bearing is place at the ending on the V track, will it be strike the wall of distance ? ANS: NO, because the ball bearing cannot produce fast movement velocity and it have short eject time to reach the borad.
2. If a projectile moment of a ball bearing can be calculated, how about this happened in space? Will it be the same? ANS: Yes, because the calculation we done is neglect the air resistance, everything is due to constant acceleration which is gravitational pull. Conclusion: In the study of trajectory of an object subjected to the gravitational acceleration is proven by the theory proposed above. Hence, the theory is accepted. It only can be applied in VACUUM physics. *** NOTES: STPM Physics = VACUUM Physics.
