The Gemtek CPE contains an intergrated dual polarization antenna. When the the RJ45 input connector is pointing directly down, then the units integrated antenna has the vertical polarization plane pointing directly up and the horizontal polarization plane at 90 degrees right angle. This direction of installation is best suited to Line of Sight and Near Line of Sight ion installations. , In figure 1, the unit is installed in a diamond configuration with the RJ45 input connector pointing down and to the side. This type of installation is best suited to a Non Line of Sight . installation where maximum benefit can be derived from the two antenna receivers. The CPE is powered via a power over Ethernet 802.3af compliant device (refer to figure 3).

The DHCP server on the CPE is enabled by default and therefore to access the CPE via Ethernet, the host computer must meet the following requirements: 1) 2) 3) Equipped with an Ethernet network interface Allow the client PC to obtain an IP address automatically or set a fixed IP address Web browser installed: Mozilla Fiefox is recommended.

The CPE is configured with the default IP address of 1 10.1.1.254 and subnet mask of 1.254 255.255.255.0. Considering that the DHCP server is enabled by default, the DHCP clients should be able to access the CPE, or the host PC should be assigned a static IP address first for initial , address configuration. An example for static IP address can be set to 10.1.1.100. browser-based manager. It uses the HTTP protocol via a The CPE is managed through a web browser web browser to allow you to set up and manage the device. The URL of management web site is: http://10.1.1.254. It is recommended to use the Mozilla Firefox web browser rather than Internet Explorer to access the unit. Known issues specifically with Internet Explorer Ver Version 8 (IE8) can comprise the web browser display and configuration of the unit.

Unit Login
The following steps are required to login into the Gemtek CPE. 1) 2) Insert the PoE injector unit power cord and plug it into applicable ac power source. Connect the cross Cat 5 Ethernet cable that shipped with the CPE, to the CPE, and the other end to the DATA & POWER OUT port of the PoE injector unit. Connect one end of a straight Cat 5 Ethernet cable to the D DATA IN port of the PoE injector unit and the other end can be connected to a PC or a network. V Verify that in a few seconds, both LEDs (PORT and AC) on the PoE injector unit light up bright green . Make sure the PCs IP address getting from CPE DHCP server is 10.1.1.xxx. The default IP .xxx. address is 10.1.1.254. In this example the address 10.1.1.100/24 was used. . Open the browser and input the web control site: http://10.1.1.254 and the Gemtek login screen will appear (refer to figure 4) 4).
