Mr. Nicholas Schmidle authored this article.

Look for the following paragraph

His idea was to induce a kind of shock therapy; judging by the expressions on the mullahs’ faces when the woman
in pink entered the room, he succeeded. Two days after the Adam Smith lecture, a Shiite Muslim scholar proposed
a provocative, unorthodox way of reading the Quran, borrowing heavily from Jacques Derrida’s theory of
deconstruction. Derrida, a staunch atheist, believed that the meaning of texts are fluid and subject to infinite
interpretations, depending on the reader, his/her history, his/her environment, the time, etc. “In the Quran, Allah
told us to go on ‘hajj’ [pilgrimage to Mecca] in caravans on camels. But times have changed,” said the scholar,
who had studied both in Najaf, Iraq, under Grand Ayatollah Sistani, and at the University of North Carolina,
where he researched the Synoptic Gospels. “Besides the ‘kalma’ [profession of faith], everything in the Quran is
moving.”

Notice the overwhelming similarities in the academic credentials of the scholar mentioned in the above paragraph
and Mr. Mohsin Naqvi. Both have studied in Najaf, Iraq and both have researched (PhD) “The Synoptic Gospel” at
‘a’ University in North Carolina.
Please note that ‘North Carolina State University’ and ‘University of North Carolina’ are two different
Universities, in two different cities of the state of North Carolina.

Possibilities
i ) -But these could be two different scholars who happen to had similar research interests (in Synoptic Gospels)
and they chose to pursue their academic curiosity at two different Universities.

ii ) – May be Dr. Syed Mohsin Muzzaffar Naqvi did his PhD in Comparative Religion from University of North
Carolina and mistakenly put NC State on the Council of Islamic Ideology Website.
Elimination of Possibility ( i )
i ) -But these could be two different scholars who happen to had similar research interests (in Synoptic Gospels)
and they chose to pursue their academic curiosity at two different Universities.

To remove any doubts about the identity of the scholar, we sent an email to Mr. Nicholas Schmidle.

So Mr. Nicholas Schmidle was infact talking about Mr. Mohsin Naqvi!
Elimination of Possibility ( ii )

ii ) – May be Dr. Syed Mohsin Muzzaffar Naqvi did his PhD in Comparative Religion from University of North
Carolina and mistakenly put NC State on the Council of Islamic Ideology Website.

To eliminate the second possibility, let’s suppose Dr. Syed Mohsin Muzzaffar Naqvi in reality did his PhD in
Comparative Religion from University of North Carolina.

But which University of North Carolina would that be as there are sixteen constituent Universities in the UNC
system with six them having the ‘University of North Carolina’ prefix. Please visit
http://www.northcarolina.edu/content.php/assessment/reports/profiles/current.htm
Students who receive degrees from University of North Carolina always mention clearly which particular
constituent University awarded them the degree.
Interestingly University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is the only University that offers a PhD program.

Note: B stands for Baccalaureate Degree

M stands for Master’s Degree
D stands for Doctoral Degree

UNCH (University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill) is the only University that offers BMD (Baccalaureate,
Master’s Degree, Doctoral Degree) degree programs in religious studies. Thus, if Dr.Syed Mohsin Muzzaffar Naqvi
received a PhD in Comparative Religion from a constituent University of UNC system, it has to be UNC at
Chapel Hill.

So let’s see what UNC-CH has to say about Dr.Syed Mohsin Muzzaffar Naqvi.
Fax sent to UNC-CH

Reply from the University of North Carolina At Chapel Hill

It is obvious from the UNC-CH and NC State University letters that Dr. Syed Mohsin Muzzaffar Naqvi
never attended or received any degree from either UNC-CH or NC State University.
Claim 3-

CONCLUSION
Evidence strongly suggests that Dr. Mohsin Muzzaffar Naqvi’s has made false claims and it confirms that he is a pseudo-
scholar. However, based on our research, it is apparent that Dr. Naqvi is indeed a very intelligent and brave person. A part
from what is mentioned above, it is known through several of his admirers that Dr. Naqvi has claimed to have seen Imam
Mahdi (as) and is in direct contact with Imam Mahdi (as). This claim of Dr. Mohsin Naqvi will be the focus of our next
research.
