Objective
The overall goal of this Packet Tracer Skill-based assessment is to have endtoend connectivity between the Network ABC to the Network XYZ. This skill based exam will consist of five tasks: 1) Build both LANs and WAN using Packet Tracer. 2) Calculate the subnets for eight LANs and one WAN link. 3) Manually configure the workstations and Web Servers with the following:
4) Configure the routers and switches using only basic IOS configuration commands vial CLI. 5) Verify end to end connectivity between PCs and verify HTTP connectivity via DNS to the Web Server.
Scenario This topology represents a small routed network, intended to prepare students, network design, basic IP addressing and router configuration and local LAN connectivity.
Task One: Build the LAN Using Packet Tracer. Estimated Time: 30
minutes
Steps:
Add 8 end user devices Six PCs Two servers Add 10 Layer 2 devices Six 2960 catalyst switches Four 2950-T catalyst switches Add 2 Cisco Routers (layer 3) Specify a 2621 XM router (located under Custom devices) with four FastEthernet interfaces.
PCB and Dallas FastEthernet 0/1 IP Address Use the major network address of 172.22.0.0/23 and maximize hosts. Configure the LAN on subnet 50. Dallas FastEthernet 0/1 IP Address & PCB Subnet mask Routers interface IP address (a.f.u. IP address) PCB IP address (a.l.u IP address)
PCC and Dallas FastEthernet 1/0 IP Address Use the major network address of 192.168.10.0 using a 27 bit mask. Configure the LAN on subnet 2. Dallas FastEthernet 1/0 IP Address & PCC Subnet mask Routers interface IP address (a.f.u. IP address) PCC IP address (a.l.u. IP address)
Web Server and Dallas FastEthernet 1/1 IP Address Given the major network address of 172.224.0.0 & maximize subnets. Subnet this LAN to support at least 1000 hosts per subnet and use subnet 6. Dallas FastEthernet 1/1 IP Address & Web Server Subnet mask Routers interface IP address (a.f.u. IP address) Web Server IP address (a.l.u. IP address)
PCX and Austin FastEthernet 0/0 IP Address Use the major network address of 144.225.0.0 and maximize hosts. Subnet the LAN to support at least 12 subnets & and configure the LAN on subnet 8. Austin FastEthernet 0/0 & PCX Subnet mask Routers interface IP address (a.f.u. IP address) Web Server IP address (a.l.u. IP address)
PCY and Austin FastEthernet 0/1 IP Address Use the network address of 172.16.0.0 255.255.248.0. Configure the LAN on subnet 7. Austin FastEthernet 0/1 IP Address & PCY Subnet mask Routers interface IP address (a.f.u. IP address) Web Server IP address (a.l.u. IP address)
PCZ and Austin FastEthernet 1/0 IP Address Use the major network address of 192.168.44.0 / 28 and configure the LAN on subnet 2. Austin FastEthernet 1/0 IP Address & PCZ Subnet mask Routers interface IP address (a.f.u. IP address) Web Server IP address (a.l.u. IP address)
DNS Server and Austin FastEthernet 1/1 IP Address Given the major network address of 172.225.0.0 & maximize subnets. Subnet this LAN to support at least 4000 hosts per subnet and use subnet 5. Austin FastEthernet 1/1 IP Address & DNS Server Subnet mask Routers interface IP address (a.f.u. IP address) Web Server IP address (a.l.u. IP address)
Dallas and Austin Serial IP Address Given the major network address of 200.2.200.0 using a 30 bit mask and specify subnet 3. Dallas and Austin Serial IP Address Subnet mask Routers interface IP address (a.f.u. IP address) Web Server IP address (a.l.u. IP address)
ABC Network
Router name: Dallas Dallas router Passwords: o Use the Privilege EXEC password: fred (lower case) o Console User EXEC password: class (lower case) o VTY User Exec password: cisco (lower case) Encrypt all passwords Specify the LAN interfaces o IP address (Configured in Task 2) o Description: Specify the Subnet ID (number) & include your initials Add the following banner message: *************************************************************** | This is the ABC network. Unauthorized access is prohibited | | Your activity is being monitored and Violators will be prosecuted!! | | Network Admin = Sarveshkumar Lad | ***************************************************************
XYZ Network
Router name: Austin Austin router Passwords: o Use the Privilege EXEC password: xyz (lower case) o Console User EXEC password: cisco (lower case) o VTY User Exec password: TELNET (upper case) Encrypt all passwords
Specify the LAN interfaces o IP address (Configured in Task 2) o Description: Specify the Subnet number & include your initials Add the following banner message: *************************************************************** | This is the XYZ network. Unauthorized access is prohibited!! | | Your activity is being monitored and Violators will be prosecuted!! | | Network Admin = < include your first & last name > | ***************************************************************
Static Routing
Configure connectivity between the two networks using static routing. o Only on one router you are allowed to use a single default static route. o On the other router you must configure multiple static routes using the specified bit mask to the destination network.
