Development Level Refers to an employees job performance Competence function of knowledge, and skills, which can be gained from education, training, and experience Commitment combination of confidence and motivation Confidence refers to a persons self-assuredness; feeling of being able to do a task well w/o supervision Motivation persons interest in & enthusiasm for doing a job well

Leadership Styles Directive Behavior Involves clearly telling people what to do, how to do it, where to do it, and when to do it and then closely supervising their performance.

Supportive Behavior Involves listening to people, providing support and encouragement for their efforts, and then facilitating their involvement to problem-solving and decision-making.
