Three Methods Of Valve Positioning, 1th Method

By means of valve position indication directly on the actuator. Advantage : directly mechanically linked to the valve stem through the actuator.

Three Methods Of Valve Positioning, 2nd Method

By means of end of stroke switches in the Local Control Panel (remote mounted) No additional cabling to actuator needed. Operating Principle : At the end of each actuator extreme positions (fully stroked against the actuator end stop the hydraulic pressure at the opposite cylinder side decreases gradually to atmospheric. A pressure switch set @ 10 Barg can therefore detect an extreme position of a double acting actuator in either direction. Pretty reliable as usually this feedback will be obtained if the valve is either its extreme position or the valve is stuck in an intermediate position, but NOT when there is an extreme leakage within the hydraulic system.

Three Methods Of Valve Positioning, 3th Method

By means of Volumetric Position Indicators in the local control panel (remote Mounted). Standardized CETOP interface. Local Arrow Indication 0-120 Deg Remote feedback option with Potentiometer (voltage variation) Can be converted to a 4-20mA Feedback by means of a potentio meter transmitter. In case of hazardous areas this must be combined with an isolator providing an IS signal to the potentiometer. Potentiometer is defined as a simple apparatus meaning no capability of generating (coil) or storing (capacitor) energy. No certificate is required for a potentiometer as long as the signal going through it is IS meaning its energy is limited to such extend that an ignition hazard is eliminated. Disadvantage : When there is an extreme leakage in the system the remote indication gives a wrong indication

Material of the base plates (CETOP manifolds). These are available in Phospated iron, seaworthy resistant aluminum or SS316 material. Material of the volumetric indicators is available in seaworthy resistant aluminum or brass. No SS316 Material of the end of stroke switches is available in any material for wetted parts as required. Conclusion : There is always a material contingency when using volumetric indicators.
