DANCE TERMINOLOGY Flexion Extension Decrease in the angle of the joint. Flection of the ankle is called dorsiflexion.

Increase in the angle of the joint, or returning a body part back to the anatomical position. E.g. Arabesque is extension of hip joint. Extension of shoulder joint is backwards. Cant extend elbow if not in state of flexion. Extension of ankle joint plantar flexion. Hyperextension Extension of the segment past the anatomical position.
