Dear Cooperating Teacher, Hello! My hope is that you have enjoyed a wonderfully beautiful and relaxing holiday break.

Let me introduce myself to you! My name is Megan Freudigmann and I was hired by Grand Valley State Universitys College of Education to be a Student Teaching Field Coordinator this past August. My background is rich in education. Most recently I was a 2nd grade teacher in Middleville, MI but took a leave of absence to be at home with my two young daughters (Kirra, 4 and Eliana, 1). My husband, also a teacher, is in his 4 th year at East Kentwood teaching Biology at the Freshman Campus. I look forward to working along side you and your assigned student teacher this semester! Together, the three of us will learn, grow, collaborate, reflect and navigate through this semester. Some of the highlights of this program are: 1. Your student teacher will be observed at least 5 times by me, the field coordinator. During these observations I will be looking for particular methods of teaching, relationship building, classroom management, etc. We will set these observations up at least a week prior to my visit during our weekly seminars on campus. Following an observation, I will meet with you privately and then with the student teacher. 2. Your student teacher will gradually assume teaching responsibility. You will create a plan/calendar together where they will assume 4-6 weeks of teaching all subjects in your classroom. 3. Your student teacher will write and conduct a unit plan using the ITIP lesson format. Please discuss an appropriate unit topic as soon as possible. 4. Your student teacher will work with your classroom management plan and will hopefully add their own personal touch (with our approval of course)! Thank you for joining me in the mentorship of a Grand Valley State University Student Teacher! I look forward to meeting you the weeks of January 16th and 23rd. Until then, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not ever hesitate to contact me by phone or e-mail. Enjoy your first couple weeks together as you welcome your students and begin to set the foundation for a positively successful semester of learning!
