TELU raises funds for local MDA families ATLANTIC CITY, NJ., July 10, 2009 The Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) arrested over 40 local business and community leaders for committing acts of kindness at the Atlantic City Telethon Executive MDA Lock Up held on July 8, 2009. As members of South Jersey's "Most Wanted", these individuals were held in custody at the Sheraton Atlantic City Convention Center Hotel as they raised $44,025 in bail money to support local families affected with neuromuscular disorders. Jail birds were arrested at work by generous volunteers from the New Jersey State Police Department as well as the Atlantic City and Pleasantville Police Departments. They were transported by Joes Limousine Services and Torgro Limousine Services to MDAs executive prison where they phoned friends, family and business associates to raise bail money. This years top bail raiser was Linda Hughes, an employee of Trump Entertainment. Bail was set at $3,000 per person, and Hughes went above and beyond by raising $6,156! Also in attendance was 17-year-old Chris Weisgerber, a local MDA Goodwill Ambassador affected by Duchennes Muscular Dystrophy, to thank the philanthropic execs for all of their support. All funds raised by MDAs Telethon Executive Lock-Up will send local children affected with a neuromuscular disorder to a week at MDA Summer Camp as well as provide clinic services, support groups, research, and help with the purchase of orthopedic equipment.
