August 16, 2011 Dear BMS-Phoenix Family: I hope all of you had a safe, happy, and restful summer.

My name is Gonzalo Pitpit. I come to Bertie Middle School as an Administrative Intern. I am excited to be working and learning with each one of you as we work together to provide the best possible educational program and ensure academic success for ALL students at Bertie Middle School. My professional career started in the Philippines. I taught in my home country for fifteen years until I moved to Australia and taught there for almost two years. In the United States, I work with Northampton County Schools and this school year will be my fifth year here. Currently, I am pursuing a masters degree in school administration through the Northeast Leadership Academy (NELA), North Carolina State University. I know that you all have a close working relationship and are focused upon what is best for the children. My goal is to simply join that alliance for I believe in a school community such as BMS that adheres to high academic standards in a safe learning environment and that all students are given the opportunities to develop themselves into well-rounded individuals manifesting a love for self-knowledge, self-discipline, self-direction, and self-worth. It is my ardent desire that every student at the middle school will continue to make progress in meeting academic standards and becoming responsible citizens. In order for this to be done, the educational program must be academically challenging, engaging, and exciting to promote further exploration of new ideas. Furthermore, knowing ones cultural heritage, taking pride in ones identity, developing persons for others, and creating a culture of strong personal relationships between and among all stakeholders can help develop high student achievement and success. I believe in the power of collaboration. My view of a team includes teachers, parents, child, and the community. When all of these constituents join force, communication will be very important. In addition to the school phone (252-794-2143) you can also reach me at gmpitpit@ncsu.edu. Thank you. Sincerely yours, Gonzalo M.
