Student-Friendly Learning Outcome: I willlearn about how the history of the Middle Ages affect the literature of the time.

Activities: Middle Ages Pre Testhand out the pretest for students to work on. This will be graded for attempt, not correctness. After the tests have been handed in, I will go over the answers with the students. Power Point Presentation-start the presentation on Middle Ages history/background. After a topic has been covered, summarize and write notes on the whiteboard. Allow for questions and discussion. Exit Slip- as the class is ending, I will have the students write on a post-it-note how they felt about the lesson: good, bad, or otherwise. I will take these suggestions and comments as ways to improve my teaching for the next day.

Rigor and Relevance: I will help the students relate events of the past, especially the Battle of Hastings and the Crusades, to the world around them today. The Battle of Hastings influenced our language greatly and the Crusades still influence the current events of our day.
