The mission of the Military Affairs Coalition of Western Pennsylvania is to educate the public regarding the U.S. Air Force proposal to close the 911 th Airlift Wing (Air Force Reserve) and remove four aircraft from the 1 71 st Air Refueling Wing (Air National Guard) and to allow the public to comment on issues pertinent to this proposal.

Members of the Military Affairs Coalition of Western Pennsylvania made their case against closing the 911 th Airlift Wing and removing four aircraft from the 1 71 st Air Refueling Wing to Congress. A presentation was created and presented Thursday, March 1 , 2 201 2 in Washington, DC.

When Pittsburgh's CBS affiliate asked President Obama about the closure he said the military must make, "some very tough choices."

Comings and Goings

A 9-person team from the Air Force Command came to brief the 911 th on options if the base closes. Air Force Col. Jeffrey Pennington has been reassigned to the 433rd Airlift Wing in Lackland, TX. .

"Closing the 911th would be harmful to our national security"
