Chapter Ten Lockwood becomes sick Demands Nelly to tell story Heathcliff returns after Linton and Catherine's marriage (6 months) Returns as an impressive and polished man Catherine excited about his return Edgar becomes jealous Announces he will stay at Wuthering Heights Isabella begins to fall in love with Heathcliff (he's still in love with Catherine, yet doesn't do anything to discourage her) Nelly vows to watch him closely (She fears he has wicked and vengeful motives)

Chapter Eleven Nelly goes to Wuthering Heights Finds Hareton Gets pummeled with stones Cursed at by Hareton

Heathcliff taught Hareton to swear at father, Hindley Heathcliff appears, Nelly retrieves

Next day, Nelly observes Heathcliff embracing Isabella. In kitchen, Catherine demands truth from Heathcliff Catherine offers idea of marriage between Isabella and Heathcliff Heathcliff disregards, but wants revenge.

Edgar demands Heathcliff leaves Catherine locks them in Forces Edgar to confront Heathcliff (without the help of the servants) Edgar hides his face Catherine taunts Edgar into striking Heathcliff Edgar exits through the garden Afraid of Heathcliff, he finds help

Heathcliff, afraid of the three servants, departs

Edgar makes Catherine choose Refuses to speak to him Locks herself in a room Refuses to eat

Edgar threatens Isabella If she pursues Heathcliff, she will no longer be a Linton.

Catherine eats Thinks she is dying (can't understand why Edgar hasn't come to her) Speaks obsessively about death Catherine still in love with Heathcliff (Says that even though seh will die, her spirit will never be at rest until she can be with Heathcliff)

Edgar arrives and is shocked to see Catherine so weak Nelly finds doctor Says she'll be fine

(That night) Isabella and Heathcliff elope Edgar furious Declares Isabella sister only by name Says she has disowned him (does not disown her)
