of this class is to increase students competency at using their school and public library. Reinforce the skills necessary to be successful writers and researcher in high school. Graphic Novels Discussion of Printz Award Class Book Discussion

Identify story arc in graphic novel. Understand how to paraphrase complex ideas and/or plots. Understand how to select books that appeal to you as a reader. Expand reading for pleasure.

Class will read one fiction and one non-fiction graphic novel for book discussion during the last week of class. Write a brief book review (300 words) on one of two graphic novels we read in class. Find a book review of a Printz Award winner and bring to class to share.

My teacher says that graphic novels dont count as books, how can I convince her that they are? Where can I find books that appeal to me as a reader? Whats the point of a book discussion?
