Annual Day Essay A number of functions are held every year in our school, but the most important

of them is the annual day function. This year the Annual Day function was held on the 15th of December 2011. Great preparations were made for it several days before the fixed date. The School building and the compound was well-cleaned. Invitations were extended to the students and their Parents. Our Chief Guest was Ms. Clara Mulvani and the Guest of Honour was Mr. Dolphi DSouza. A day before the fixed date, the school compound and the school hall were decorated. On the day of the function, water was sprinkled all over the compound. Necessary seating arrangement was also made in the big hall of the school. As the time drew near, the invited guests began to arrive. They were received by some Teachers and some students. They were well garlanded and given a hearty welcome. The function began at 6.30 p.m.. First of all March Past was done by some head girls, the Principal and the Guests, then the Principal delivered a brief welcome speech and introduced the chief guest and the Guest of Honour to the assembled people. The Guest of Honour Mr. Dolphi DSouza gave a short speech about himself and his work. Parents were invited to the annual day and this caused a great deal of excitement in our hearts. There were dances & musical programmes organized. Every student hoped that they may be able to win the first prize at these events.

We had students dancing the Koli dance & Lazim dance of Maharashtra, the Thakaras Farmer Dance and the western dance. Afterwards there were some musical programmes. Then the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour gave away the prizes. I won the prize for dance. The celebrations concluded with a vote of thanks by the principal and our National Anthem 'Jan Gana Man'. Lastly our Principal thanked the Chief Guest and other guests. It was a well organised show and my parents also admired it. We all await the arrival of our annual day every year. We love our school Annual Day.
