SIMPLE PAST TENSE The simple past is used for a completed action that happened at one specific time in the past. Akil went to Paris last year. Hilton bought new car yesterday. Precious washed the dishes after dinner. Roman drove to the grocery store this afternoon.

PRESENT PERFECT TENSE Subject + Has have + Verb in past participle

The present perfect is used to indicate : An action that happened at an indefinite time in the past. Elly has travelled around the world. (we dont know when) An action that happened more than once in the past. Erick has seen this movie three times. An action that began in the past and is still occuring in the present. Eleanor has lived in the same house since 1960. (she still lives there.)
