Weitz, Eric D. Weimar Germany: Promise and Tragedy. Princeton, NJ: Princeton UP, 2007. Print.

In, Weimar Germany: Promise and Tragedy, talks about the Weimar Republic was not

Brown-Diaz, Bush, Kennedy 3 just a prelude to World War I but, it was a time period for revolutionizing and just new ideas coming from everyone. I also was taught that throughout the time of the Weimar Republic came great achievement with even greater promise. I like this book because it does a good job of filling the reader in on how life was really like in this time period and what would happen in ones everyday life during the era. The work of Weitz also goes through the revolutionaries of that time like the different architecture and art. One more thing that I have come to learn in this work is how the Germans advanced in better working conditions and how they affected them. Weimar Germany was a helpful book and I will definitely be using it in my project because it includes a lot of helpful information.

A Travellers History of Germany Cole, Robert. A Traveller's History of Germany. New York: Interlink, 2004. Print.

A Travellers History of Germany has taught me about the beginnings of Germany. I learned that Germany was not always united. The German unification did not come until 1871, and during this time the people were fuelled not only by industrialism but also by nationalism. This work tells the story of how Germany came from nothing to unite into a great nation that we all know today. Throughout the book there are maps, line drawings, and a historical gazetteer cross-referenced with the text. The work of Cole definitely does have some valuable information that could be useful in my project as to how the idea of the Weimar Republic came about.

Brown-Diaz, Bush, Kennedy 4 Secondary Sources Ben Stein's Curious Post-Modernist Adventure." Random Biology. Web. 04 Mar. 2012. <http://randombio.com/creationism.html>. In this website I discovered a picture of Adolf Hitler where he is speaking out about politics and how he thinks he should be the person to take the job of president. He was named president after The Weimar Republic failed because unfortunately, people listened to his ways because they did think that he would do good for them but instead he caused the death of many people. Dorpalen, Andreas. Hindenburg and the Weimar Republic. Princeton, New Jersey: Princeton UP, 1964. Print. In the book I found out how the different political parties reacted to Hindenburg. I learned how many people supported the KPD, SPD, and DNVP. The book told me about the Expropriation Bill and which party supported it. The book took me step by step through the Weimar Republic. Eyck, Erich. A History of the Weimar Republic. Cambridge, Massachusetts: Harvard UP, 1962. Print. This book taught me about the KPD, SPD, and DNVP. It also provided me with the history the Republic. I used it primarily for information about the three political parties that I mentioned earlier. I learned many Germans believed the KPD was backed and supplied by Russia. I learned the SPD wanted democracy in the German government and they were the only support for the Republic. The SPD became very unpopular quickly due to their lack of keeping their promises. The DNVP wanted a monarchy style government and later joined with the National German Workers Party.

This website gave me a better understanding of the Weimar Republic. It goes throughout the entire history of the Weimar Republic. Kolb, Eberhard. The Weimar Republic. London: n.p., 2005. Print. The Social Democratic Party wanted to get rid of the monarchy as well but did not necessarily agree with everything that the Republic did. The Spartacus Union was against the social democrats and wanted a soviet-style Germany just like their allies, Russia. This party was also called the KPD. They posed a big threat to the Social Democrats. Then came the Nationalist party, which was made up of unemployed soldiers. The Weimar Republic would remain in power until 1933 when the Nationalists finally won control and Hitler was voted president.

Brown-Diaz, Bush, Kennedy 6 Ozmet, Steven. A Mighty Fortress A New History of the German People. New York: HarperCollins Publishers, 2004. Print.

The Weimar Republic made treaties with its allies that not everyone agreed with. These treaties allowed the other parties such as the KPD, SDP, and Nationalists to overthrow the Republic. The men that had signed the treaties were seen as criminals to the rest of the country. By signing the Treaty of Versailles the Republic had signed away any chance to recover and remain in power. The SDP saw the treaty as another abject surrender. Many came to see the Republic as the enemy within and decided to go for the Nationalists. The Nationalists then gained control of Germany. The in the presidential election with the Weimar Republic out of the way the Nationalist Hitler won presidency and Germany would be changed forever.

Shirer, William L. The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich. New York: Simon and Schuster, 1960. Print.

The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich does have some helpful information but, I do not think that is focusing on the right area of the time that I am in my project. This work talks about what it was like to live in the time era before World War I. It mainly talks about the time before Hitler came into power and how he came into power and what it was like to live with Hitler in power.

The Treaty of Versailles." Colby College. Web. 04 Mar. 2012. <http://www.colby.edu/personal/r/rmscheck/GermanyD1.html>.

In this website, I found the effects that the Treaty of Versailles had on the Weimar Republic. In this article, I found that most people blamed the rise of the Nazis on the T.O.V. I also learned about the Peace Conference that occured on January 18, 1919. This council was put together in

Brown-Diaz, Bush, Kennedy 8 hopes that they would find peace between everyone and they did but not without many conditions on everyones part. The website also goes through the different sides on how they felt about the T.O.V.
