Analgesics- drug that suppresses pain perception without inducing unconsciousness. Anesthetic- drug that suppresses pain perception by inducing unconsciousness. Antacids- drug that neutralizes excess gastric acid. Antagonist- drug that reacts asymptomatically with physiological receptors and prevents their endogenous reaction. Anthelmintic- drug that eradicates intestinal worm manifestation. Anti-adrenergic-drug that inhibits response to sympathetic nerve impulses and adrenergic drugs. Anti-amebic-drug that kills or inhibits protozoan parasites such as Enamoeba histolitica, causative agent of amebiasis. Anti-angina-coronary vasodilator useful in preventing or treating attacks of angina pectoris. Anti-arthritic- drug that reduces joint inflammation of arthritis. Antibacterial- drug that kills or inhibits pathogenic bacteria. Anticoagulant- drug administered to slow clotting of circulating blood. Anticonvulsant-antiepileptic drug administered prophylactically to prevent seizures or a drug that arrests convulsions by inducing general central nervous system. Antidepressant-centrally acting drug that induces mood elevation useful in treating mental depression Antidiabetic-drug that supplies insulin or stimulates the secretion of insulin. Antidiarrheal-drug that inhibits intestinal peristalsis. Antidiuretic- drug that promotes renal water re-absorption, thus reducing urine volume. Anti-anemic-drug used to treat anemia. Antibiotic-drug originally of microbial origin used to kill or inhibit bacterial and other infections. Antidote-drug that reduces the effects of ingested poison. Antifungal-drug that kills or inhibits pathogenic fungi. Antiemetic-drug that suppresses nausea and vomiting.

Antihistamine- a drug that antagonizes histamine action at H1 histamine receptors Antihypertensive- drugs that lower arterial blood pressure, especially the elevated diastolic pressure of hypertension. Anti-hypoglycemic- drug that elevates glucose level. Anti-inflammatory- drug that inhibits physiological response to cell damage. Antipyretic- drug that restores normal body temperature in the presence of fever. Antispasmodic- drugs that inhibits the motility of visceral smooth muscle. Antiviral- drug that kills and inhibits viral infections Antitubercular- drug that kills and inhibits Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the causative agent of tuberculosis. Decongestant- adrenergic drugs used topically or orally to induce vasoconstriction of nasal passages. Disinfectant- agent that destroys microorganisms on contact and is suitable for sterilizing inanimate objects. Diuretics- drug that promotes renal excretion of electrolytes and water. Emetic- drug that induces vomiting. Laxative-drug that promotes defecation, usually considered milder in action than cathartic. Mucolytic- drug that hydrolyzes mucoproteins. Non Steroidal Anti-inflammatory drugs-analgesic, anti-inflammatory drug that inhibits prostaglandin synthesis. Protectant-topical drug that provides a physical barrier to the environment. Sedative-central nervous system depressant used to induce mild relaxation. Vaccine-antigen containing drug used to induce active immunity against an infectious disease. Vitamin-organic chemical essential in small amounts for normal metabolism; used therapeutically to supplement the vitamin content of foods.

PHARMACY BUSINESS REQUIREMENTS (Philippines)


Whether a business is Single Proprietorship, Partnership, or Corporation, the following requirements must be accomplished. Having all these documents will prove that your business is legit. 1. Business Name (BN) Registration For Single Proprietorship, you will need to be registered at Department of Trade & Industry (DTI) local offices. You can also apply for BN online through DTI official website. BN registration is under the revised implementing rules and regulations of Act 3883, as amended, otherwise known as the Business Name Law. The validity of BN is 5 years from the date of original registration and must be renewed afterwards. Requirements: Accomplished BN Registration Form Tax Identification Number (TIN) (Optional) 5 business names to chose from Registration Fee will depend on your territory

For Partnership, you will need to acquire Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Certificate from Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Office. Requirements: Verification Slip Form (this pertains to the proposed name) Articles of Partnership (notarized) Written Undertaking to Change Corporate Name (notarized) Accomplished Registration Data Sheet Deed of Assignment executed by the stockholder (owner), if the contributed capital is a real property. 2. Mayors Permit This should be acquired in local municipality where your business is located. The validity of Mayors Permit is one year and submits for renewal afterwards. Requirements: Barangay Clearance- obtained where the business is located Accomplished Business Permit Application Form Business Name Certificate (Either from DTI or SEC) Business location sketch SSS Certification/Clearance Least contract if place is rented/tax declaration Community Tax Certificate (Cedula) 2 pieces 22 colored ID Picture Registration fee depending on the type of the business

3. Tax Identification Number (TIN) to be acquired at Revenue District Office (RDO) having jurisdiction over the registered business address. Requirements: Birth certificate or any valid identification showing name, address and birth date Mayors permit or application for Mayors Permit (when applicable) Certificate of Registration of Business Name (to be submitted prior to the issuance of the BIR Certificate of Registration (COR) Accomplished BIR Form 1901 Paid Annual Registration Fee of Php 500 at the Authorized Agent Bank of RDO Other fees: 4. Social Security System (SSS) Certificate to be acquired at your local SSS Office. Requirements: Accomplished BR-1 Form Business Certificate from DTI or SEC No charge on registration 5. License to Operate (LTO) issued by FDA Philippines.

Requirements to be submitted at FDA Office: Notarized Petition Form and Joint Affidavit of Undertaking duly accomplished Pharmacist Board Certificate, Valid PRC-ID picture, Valid PTR, 2x2 colored ID picture (2 pcs) and Certificate of Attendance on a FDA accredited seminar on Licensing of Drug Establishment and Outlets (Photocopies to be verified with the original copies) Certificate of Business Name (from DTI if single proprietorship and from SEC if Partnership or Corporation) Floor area not less than 15 square meters Picture of drugstore with signboard. Contract of Lease for the space if it is rented Location and Floor plan with dimension Generic white and red labels Tentative list of products to be sold using generic and brand names, if any Rubber stamp of outlets Registration Fee of Php 1000.00 valid for 1 year and subjects to renewal afterwards. Upon inspection the following materials should be available at the pharmacy: a. Reference Materials RA 5921 known as Pharmacy Law RA 3720 known as Food, Drugs and Cosmetic Act RA 6675 known as Generics Act of 1988 RA 8203 known as Special Law on Counterfeit Drugs Philippine National Drug Formulary (PNDF) Note: RA print outs are usually provided at FDA Accredited Seminar on Licensing of Drug Establishment and Outlets. b. Any of the following reference books (latest edition): United States Pharmacopeia/National Formulary (USP-NF) Remingtons Pharmaceutical Science Goodman and Gilman Pharmacological Basis of Therapeutics c. Record Books (Prescription Books) duly registered with FDA Philippines
