Kamala and Amala were two young girls discovered living with wolves in 1920 near Midnapore, India. In 1920, as the story goes, Reverend J.A.L. Singh saw a mother wolf and cubs, two of whom had long, matted hair and looked like a human. After considerable preparations and difficulties, the two human creatures were captured. The girls were probably not sisters, having presumably been abducted by the wolves at different times. Amala, the younger girl, died after only a year, but Kamala lived until 1929 when she died of typhoid fever.
~ In this case, Amala and Kamala had been raised by the wolves family for a long time and the feral children had already learned and adapt the animals language. ~Children use language to express needs and desires. Kamala could only speak the beginning of the words to express her desires. Normally, this phenomenon would occur only to children with age of 1-3 years. Cognitive Development In Amala n Kamalas case, their cognitive skills develop differently from normal children where they are able to think like an animal (wolf). Due to their childhood growth surrounding, they become more like wolves rather than human because they grow up literally with these animals. They could memorize events that took place in their surrounding hence applied it in their growth development. Amala and Kamala when they are found by Mrs. Singh, walk, talk and move like a wolf. They could not stand up and walk straight but instead they crawl. They have more interaction with wolf than human which makes them unable to differentiate which is humanism and animal. Kamalas cognitive development change when she was found by Mrs. Singh, Kamala now can see what she should be as human. She has been taught to be more like a human. His surroundings influence their cognitive development as a whole.
