COMPARATIVES

1.Onesyllable adjectives a) General rule: we add ER. Eg: fast faster b) Words ending in e: we add R. Eg: nice nicer c) Consonant + vowel + consonant: we double the consonant + ER. 2. Twosyllable adjectives ending in -y 3. Adjectives with 2 or more syllables 4. Irregular adjectives We use different forms. Eg: London is the biggest city in England. We use IN for places and OF for times after the superlative. Eg: Hes the richest man in Europe. Its the best song of the 80s.

To compare actions we use a comparative adverb. - Regular: we add MORE/LESS +adverb. EG: quickly more quickly - Irregular: hard harder well better badly - worse We use AS + ADJECTIVE + AS to say that 2 things or people are the same in some way. Eg: Susan is as tall as me. We often use the PRESENT PERFECT and EVER after the superlative. Eg: Ireland is the most beautiful place Ive ever been to.
