Army joins mobile blood donation campaign

Mati City, Davao Oriental The Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC), Davao Oriental Chapter, collaborated with 701st Brigade in its Mobile Blood Donation campaign held on Wednesday morning in the armys headquarters.

PNRC were able to collect 32 bags of 450cc whole blood donated by soldiers deployed in Mati City.

Mrs. Catherine Bijis, RN, administrator of PNRC in the said province stressed that most of the requests for blood are on pending status every January because they always ran out of stock.

She also added that they were thankful to the troops based in the area who are always cooperative and are willing to donate whenever they organize Municipal and Barangay Mobile Blood Donation. She said that in some cases, PNRC coordinates with the Army Headquarters in the locality to facilitate blood drive within the camp.

As CAFGU in this Province, this is one way of helping especially the indigents who cannot afford to pay for blood in time of needs, CAA Johnny Bongaitan said who donated blood several times already.

Among the donors was BGen. Leonido Bongcawil, Commander of the 701st Brigade. Donating blood is a simple gesture of our soldiers care to the people of Mati and to others who are in need of blood to preserve life, he said.
