ADULT SLOUCH HAT

MATERIALS- Size US6 circular 16 inch Size US7 Circular 16 inch and double pointed Tapestry needle or crochet hook (loose ends) 200-220 yards of worsted weight yarn *I like to use very good yarn to achieve a higher quality hat. Hats in the photos are made from malabrigo worsted, malabrigo Rios (gorgeous yarn!) or superwash wool (has a soft sheen). Place marker NOTES- This hat is knit in the round and closed on double pointed needles. There is a drastic increase after the brim that gives the hat its slouched appearance when completed. Stitches you will need to know include: M1K- Make one knit stitch ( pick up center bar and knit into it) SSK- slip 1 knitwise, slip another knitwise, knit into 2 slipped stitches K2tog- Knit 2 together P2SSO- pass 2 slipped stitches over stitch just knitted Thats it!! Very easy hat to accomplish, it just takes a bit longer to knit because its a longer hat. Please contact me if you have any questions on the pattern. ADULT SLOUCH HAT PATTERN

-Using size 6 circular needles, cast on 88 stitches and join to knit in the round. Make sure stitches are not twisted before joining. -Knit 1, Purl 1 ribbing for 1 3/4 inches to complete the brim. -Change to larger circular needle before next step - *Knit 4, M1K, Knit 4, M1k, Knit 3, M1K* repeat pattern to end (112 stitches) - Knit every round until hat measures approx. 8 1/2 inches from cast on edge, -Begin Decrease Round 1- *K1, SSK, Knit 9, K2tog* repeat to end (96 st) Round 2-4 Knit Round 5- *K1, SSK, Knit 7, K2tog* repeat to end (80 st) Round 6-8 Knit Round 9- *K1, SSK, Knit 5, K2tog* repeat to end (64 st) Round 10-12 Knit Round 13- *K1, SSK, Knit 3, K2tog* repeat to end (48 st) Round 14-16 Knit Round 17- *K1, SSK, Knit 1, K2tog* repeat to end (32 st) Round 18-19 Knit Round 20- *K1, slip 2 tog as if to knit, K1, P2SSO* repeat to end (16 st) - Cut yarn leaving 8 inch tail, thread tail through remaining 16 stitches and pull tight to cinch. Bring tail to inside of hat tie off. Weave in loose ends and Viola!
