Note: Contact cooling water may possibly ingress to the lube system oil. This water may contain natural This degradation will reduce the following oil properties: anti-rust, anti-corrosion, anti-wear, resistance to A water analysis of the intended water shall be made available to the oil supplier to insure compatibility. Supply of water with values greater than those listed will result in increased deterioration of carbide rolls, cooling and stripper nozzles and other components. The bulk of the larger scale settles out in a scale pit. The overflow from this pit contains fine scale, which must be treated in a water treatment plant. Actual particle size of the fine scale is not known. Some mills add polymers to this water from the scale pit to coagulate the scale and have it settle out at the clarifier. The chemical composition of this scale is as follows: FeO, Fe2O3, Fe3O4. The predominant compound is Fe2O3.
