I am so looking Iorward to a Iantastic year seeing your children rise to the challenge oI learning a
second language. I am always amazed and excited to see how rapidly the young mind absorbs and
works with a new language. It is also encouraging to see how quickly new students Ieel comIorta-
ble and pick up the skills with some support. II your child is learning German Ior the Iirst time I
can suggest spending time (15 minutes / week ) on the languages online website. Alternatively be
resourceIul as a parent as there is so much inIormation on the web in particular youtube. Focus on
the numbers 1"50, colours, Iamily members names, greetings, alphabet.!

Again this year I recommend the website 'Languages online which can be accessed Irom this ad-
dress : http://www.education.vic.gov.au/languagesonline/ !
Unit 33 (school items) will be particularly helpIul this term with activities that will extend your
child in this area. Any other section would be helpIul Ior revision, extension or even just Ior Iun.!

In this Iirst term oI Year Four your child will be learning about school liIe at Living Faith and how
this compares with a school in Germany. They will be working together in small groups to create a
poster about diIIerent classes around the school. They will be using the computer and digital cam-
era to come up with their designs. I can`t wait to see what they will look like.!

Additionally iI you know oI any other ways to assist your child learning German, Ieel Iree to pass
on your inIormation. Also iI you know oI any Iriend or neighbours who may have lived in Germa-
ny and would Ieel happy to talk about their experiences, we would be more than happy to accom-
modate their visit to our class.!

On the back page oI this sheet is the vocabulary the children will be learning this term. I would en-
courage all students to put this sheet up somewhere at home either on the Iridge or in their bedroom
and learn the words as best they can.!
