CONSTRUCTION PHASE OF BANGALORE METRO

Construction Phase I
Phase I spans a length of 42.3km and consists of 2 corridors

Implementation of the elevated parts of Phase I has been divided into 4 "reaches" and 2 underground sections The elevated sections of Purple Line and Green Line are scheduled to be completed by MarchJune, 2013. They would be opened to the public only after the completion of the underground stretches of the network by the end of 2014.

Phase II
Covering a span of 72.1 km, Phase II is an extension of all 4 Reaches and is expected to reduce road traffic by 35 percent. Two new lines one from Jayanagar to Electronic and the second from Nagavara to Gottigere, a total of 21 km of which around 15 km will be underground route. The estimated project cost for Phase II is around 25,000 crores (US$ 4.75 billion)

High-speed rail link


A project to build a 35 km line known as Bangalore HighSpeed Rail Link to the Bengaluru International Airport, starting at Cubbon Road. There was plan for an independent body but later on it was decided that BMRC will manage this project.
